Ride area near Emerald Creek Garnet?

Right by the garnet operation on the north side of hiway 3 at the Benewah/Shoshone county line I've seen several rigs and don't know what area they are heading into? We drive past here on the way to our place near Bovill and was wondering if anyone knew where I'm referring to and what's up there? thanks!

UM, keep going.???? Not worth even bothering with. Last time we were up there it was just a bunch of private land with wolves all around, got chased off by some crazy guy with a beat up Ford???? What kind of riding do you do?

uh... I'm with Adrenaline on that one. Elk River sounds way closer for you than where your talkin about. Oh yea there so many moose mixed in with the wolfs that you can't even get up too speed.:D:beer;

Got it. Bring a camera for a few shots of wildlife;):D. Thanks for the input, I guess no point in stopping there. We ride out our cabin door from Bovill and head towards Hemlock Butte and Iron gate. Been down to Elk river but not even to Elk butte and whatever may lie out there. I've wanted to head past Elk butte but can't convince the rest to venture out. Is there some steeper, deeper stuff around Elk butte? There isn't much challenge anymore at Iron gate and Hemlock butte as far climbing anything but I love boondocking. Not trying to brag but my ability level is so far above my family it's frustrating. We ride 20+ miles of groomies to get to some off trail areas and they want to turn around and go home :confused::mad: . If we stay and play, I get about 15 minutes to play before I have to dig 'em out and round 'em up. :(

Is there steeper? Heck yes there is! its what is at the bottom (like no roads) that will be fun! I like to see these guys climb the chutes in the videos, if they had to dodge trees at full throttle like we do, now that is riding! Sounds like you need to find some people to ride with that go different places. Nothing wrong with the trail, we use it every time we go out and then off to never never land. You are missing out on some of the best areas if you stay on the trail. What kind of sled do you ride? In shape? Just curious about inviting you on a trip but I am not going to dig you out all day if you know what I mean, just being honest.

cabin you are right about heading past elk butte. I've rode into elk river once and past elk butte its a freeway into town and i don't remeber any playing.

I remember riding in Preist Lake for my first time,(age 17) rode the trail and kind did the same thing, where are all the play areas? Next day we went out with some guys we met same trail, same direction and they took us places I wouldn't have dreamt were literally 200 yards off the road. Now, Elk River and Bovil have the same thing (not comparing priest to Elk River by any means)... Take a skid road or two on the way across from Hemlock to Elk Butte what is just over the hill will blow you away. Think of this way, the loggers come in and cut but they kept the main roads "scenic" as lots of people travel there from out of the area. Ride North then East. You guys ever here of yellow jacket, floodwood or my blue heaven cabin? I can tell you, there aren't many sleds just wandering that country on a daily basis or monthly for that matter!

Thanks guys. I've done the skid roads off Hemlock and surrounding places and it's like you say-- You may get surprised and find something fun, or a dead end. I'll keep exploring. I've heard of Floodwood and Yellowjacket but like I mentioned, I'm kind of hamstrung by the ability levels of who I'm out with. They are my family and entrust me to lead them to fun so I have to be careful where I take them and how far we go. I don't want to take them someplace past their limits and start complaining. Kind of ruins it for everyone at that point. I wouldn't mind riding with any of you sometime. I doubt I'd slow you down much at all. I ride an '02 800RMK 151 with the basic add ons; VF3 reeds, SLP single and can, Fabcraft carbon trailing arms, MM bigwheel, 3in riser, etc. :):beer;
