Reverse beeper/alarm

I've never been in a situation where my dash has been covered in snow and had to put it in reverse and having it be an issue of safety. If my dash is covered in snow and I put it in reverse chances are no one is behind me and I'm for sure going to burry it.

Lol, I guess I don't practice dash maintenance as well as you. My dash is covered more than it is not. I don't care enough to add a beeper, just mentioning I've had a few surprises when it hasn't switched over as expected.

Governor?

If you are really worried about it a reverse governor would be "safer" than a beeper. Limit the RPMs or somthing. I can't think of a scenario where I need to go that fast in reverse. Anyone find out what the top reverse speed is? I know it is faster than I am willing to try.

Just get in the habit of going "beeeeep.......beeeeep......beeeeep" every time you put it in reverse. This way others around you will know you are in reverse and you will never forget it yourself :face-icon-small-hap

All you guys wanting the back up beeper are probably the same ones that lobbied to get the dam seatbelt dingers to be standard in any vehicle newer than 2005

just a note it wasn't whining I was simply asking a question. I absolutely love everything about my machine. Also, richracer how many times are you gonna use the hangmans noose. To everybody that's too cool for a reverse beeper, youre time is coming, I hope you think of me when it happens, cause it will happen. :face-icon-small-hap

Kinda like what all the Polaris ATV's have had for years now.

I think OP posted a reasonable question & I didn't interpret it as whining.

That said I'm not sure that I'd consider the lack of a back up alarm as a safety concern though. I don't think I can recall a time that anyone was run over by a snowmobile operating in reverse.

I can say that I have ended up half sprawled on the hood of my machine a few times, usually after fighting to get my machine unstuck, where I've gone from forward to reverse so many times I've lost track, then pinned it trying to get out of an ugly spot.

In the end, the only thing that was really hurt was my pride & that was only because someone else was there to see it. LOL!

It's all good, nothing here for anyone to get bent out of shape for.......

The polaris has a reverse speed limiter.
The helix reverse notch only goes so far.
Probably get 20 mph at least in reverse though.

Fitting that 5th sled in the enclosed in reverse I would not want it limited to 5mph that's for sure.

I just think wanting a (beeper) is like wanting more rules or laws to cure gun violence. Almost like not being in control of your own actions.

Its a personal problem.......
Crazy is as crazy does.

Or (stupid is as stupid does?)

I better add one of these.
Please fill in the appropriate spaces.
