rev vs. xp

how many of you guys have had some time on an xp. i ride an 07 summit x now and i need to get another sled. i have found an 08 xp with a few mods done to it and 400 miles on it. but i know the 08-09 xp rear suspention didnt transfer the weight properly. just wondering what you guys think of the xp compaired to the rev.

thanks

It is the next step in the evolution from the rev. I would personally pass on a 08 and look for a 09 or 10 at least. I think the 11 and 12 are like identicial for ride and the 13 is in another class.

Good luck.

i own both. i have an 08 xp and an 04 rev that has a lot of "modifications". i haven't had a chance to get both out on the snow at the same time to compare, but as for right now, i liked the xp better in really fluffy powder as it seemed to get up on top easier, but it sucked on harder set up snow to try and side hill. hopefully this weekend i can get some ride time on both. might be able to give a better answer.

I have an 07 Summit 151, my lady has 2010 Summit 154. Her 2010 pulls harder and can climb better, as the snow gets deeper it pulls even harder. Her's is an X model and rides like a dream through the bumps.

The extra pull is nice and Im not sure why it pulls so much harder, track is only 3" longer and with electric start I think the 2010 is only 15-20lbs lighter? Both have 151 horsepower I think.

That all said, i still like the way my rev rides, I can huck it around more and find it easier to side hill. I do have more time on the Rev though so maybe Im more comfortable on it?

I was asking myself the same questions this year and waited to see if I fell in love with the GF's sled, but I didn't fall head over heels so I have decided to keep the rev and put some $$$ into it.

First, new skid, Im thinking the newer skid geometry is partly why it pulls a little harder and floats/climbs better. I have bought a 2011 skid to go in off an X complete with shocks. Then Im going to do some fox floats up front.

Hopfully I can get the rev to pull and float like the XP, would be embarrassing to have to borrow the GF sled on big powder days.

The float is in the skid setup/track. The 07 motor makes more HP than the 10 by a couple a ponies due to the intake track and exhaust and mapping, They are the same R motor. The XP is 20 lbs lighter in stock form, Yes the Rev is better balanced and carves better. XP is very far forward rider position and a better trail or crossover chassis..

I am trying to make this same decision. Currently ride an 07 Summit x 144. Im looking at putting some Alt Impact 37" A arms and a Timber Sled skid on the rev. Has anyone ridden that set up and how it compares to the 12 xp's. I have limited time on the xp but love the rev chassis.

got a good ride on the xp. snow was pretty deep so its hard to stay as far as carvability and side hill ability but man i totally fell inlove with it. had a great day. had zero problems cutting some really steep side hills and it pulled super hard in the steep an deep. stock engine and still whieelied everywhere!

oh and its an 08 and i narrowed the arms up to 36.75 ctc on the ground, moved the skid shock 1.25 inches forward and i moved my bar risers pretty far back(looks pretty goofy and feels goofy when you get on an xp with the bars forward) but seemed to make sidehilling easier.
