Rev 800 Trouble?

I've got a delima with my 04 800 rev dry.gif , It will not rap up on anything but hard pack snow, when off trail I can only get 7000 rpm's out of it and the deeper the pow the lower the max rpm's are. I know for a fact that it is not the clutch setup b/c of all the changes I've made and adjustments have not made any difference on the motors performance. I ask you guys what you think it may be, Compression, Rave valves sticking, Exhaust/intake air leaks. I'm going to get to the bottom of this and check all these things listed just wondering what you guys thought it may be, (definantly not the clutch setup)

Thanks, Deven

I also have a 04 rev 800 144

But my problem was a dead spot between 6000 and 6500 rpm's I found my exhaust valves were dirty and sticking, then I also cleaned all my ele. conn.
Runs like I have never rode it before!! Just a thought

Another thing to check is the carb boots. My sons 04 800 had one boot delaminating and had a hole the size of a pinky finger in it and was still running but not very good.

I had similar probs with my 05 it turned out to be plug caps. Dealer replaced wires under warranty, prob solved. Sounds totally retarded but it worked. Do you have a lot of black dust on top of your plugs when pull your caps off ? if you do your caps are prob wore out.

low rpm problem

HI Deven
I have had the same problem with both 04 800 rev summits that my wife and I have . I tried everything from gearing to clutching and re- jetting and nothing worked . Finally someone told me that the rings they used in some of the models were flakeing causing a lack of compresion under load causing a loss of rpm in the deep stuff . I replaced the rings in my sled and it was like night and day . My sled runs great now and I am actually replacing my wife's rings in her sled this weekend .
