respect and entitlement..

I tried to give you (Liberal) a perspective and came under fire for it, so, there
you go....I still can't believe you are really a rider anyway....just a troll...
I thought initially you were the child of either a Lawyer or Professor, but, you just are not smart enough....so you must be a union sheep.....now I know
plenty of good hardworking union people that actually think for themselves and I do not want to cast them in a bad light.....but, rumpyrider here is another story.....how low of an individual must he be to get on here and
praise the very people trying to shut down public access (motorized) to our lands? Pathetic! Why not spend you time on the Sierra Club website hugging your fellow hippocrites? You are a loser.......

Tit for tat.

I remember growing up I was taught to respect the President, no matter
who he was, it was respect for the office more than the individual, even when

I will give your President the same respect you gave mine....

I think that what most are refering to when they quote remember is when they started taking notice or it affected them. At 39 I barely remember the Reagan era so I snicker when some fellow in his twenties quotes the conservative side refering to that dead guy, being a teenager then, first thing comes to mind is Red Dawn and every other us, not US against the evil Russians. I know there's more history to it but it just did'nt interest or inspire me want to join the propaganda. I'm sure the current general teenset sees our actions then as we laughed at the "Love not war" and "Duck and cover" gens before us.

Started at GW, you must now be entering the short term "I only remember what I want to" faze, remember the first Bush and his buddy Quail, the Clintons.

My father has been giving me some books recently, and I have chosen a few on my own, I'm no history buff but it appears for all the good at least what I got from my teachers and textbooks, the main characters Mr. FDR , his uncle before, Kennedy, LBJ, and all the others had some real outspoken enemies. Whoda thought different opinions, or was that before the word "RESPECT" was twisted into dissagree? I still think this. http://s0.ilike.com/play#Aretha+Franklin:Respect:13658:s292462.8803421.14367593.0.1.81%2Cstd_46a423262eecabca663e90ccbdf4947e

I guess you must have given up on what you were taught when you hypocritically stated "same as you gave mine", or maybe "mine" is just your opinion, I can't respect that, he was ours, including all who did'nt aggree with him! If I learned anything growing up, thinking for myself comes to mind, I was taught how to tie shoe laces, tell time, etc.

By your theory untill one side accepts and keeps their opinions to themselves, the next time the other will do the same?

I won't stop/start doing it till they stop/start doing it!!

I know lots of losers, they ride Twoskis.:face-icon-small-hap

The "I will give your president the same respect you gave mine" came from
a popular bumper sticker and t-shirt shop....It's irony is lost on some people...

I was serving in the army when Reagan was elected, the morale of the entire
armed service's skyrocketed! After being decimated and ridiculed by Carter
it was a welcome "change"....A lot of people criticized him for various ideas and ideals that he had, but, I really feel he loved the country and would do anything to protect it....Since then I feel all the presidents (as far as leaders go) have been either out of touch with the common man (Bush 1), in it for themselves (Clinton), trying to fulfill others destiny (Bush 2), or just a scam
artist (O)....
Until we get the lawyers and special interest groups out of WashDC, nothing will change for the better......until.........an event occurs that crosses the
line.....then, look out!

so you can't argue your point so this is what you say? I thought that was a liberal tactic, you know, you point isn't valid so you go on attack mode..

I don't snowmobile. I cross country ski and knit. I also like tea and biscuits.

3 of the things above are true, I will let you figure that one out.

I'd say it's kinda like this.

You have to work up to having confidence say at a skill, yet the confidence also must be given to you by someone else. Even if you have developed the skill, etc and you constantly deal with peopel who won't give you the confidence, your gonna not be nor have confidence after awhile.

I had an old guy explain that to me once way better and with way less words.

Same with respect, you may have to earn it, but if nobody is willing to give it to you "on credit" your not gonna get the respect nor carry the respect with you so you won't respect others.

Personally I have a very select few who I actually care what they think of me and don't get to worried about others....well unless the act like a complete tool or treat me like they think I am a tool.

To your question: I suspect the lack of respect is because of the lack of social interaction thanks to the Internet. With the internet becoming publicly popular in the 90's, kids learning new social skills no longer worried about getting punched in the mouth for behaving in a disrespectful manner. That's my theory. When I was a kid, we all went outside to play....all day, every day. If you acted like a jacka$$, you had no freinds. Simple. We ate dirt, threw rocks at each other, skinned our knees, got goose-eggs, and practiced swear-words. In the 90's kids got video games and computers. So they sat inside all day shooting virtual gangstas and "talking" on the internet...no learning, no consequences. All their social skills came from liberal-minded teachers who let them know about their "rights".

I have to agree. Just look at some of the threads on here lately. A guy calling another guy a liar is easy on the internet, like killing a zombie in a vidoe game....but would he call that same guy (who's 6'8" and 300+) a liar to his face?? He would likely show the guy some respect and offer to buy him a beer if he knows what's good for him! :beer;:)

At 300 bills I'd call a liar and then run....odds are he doesn't have a good cardio vascular level so I could get away before he pummeled me;)

You knit snowmobilles over tea?

dang, tech a got schooled by snowhawkaddict? :beer;

Dude, well done and good post.

????

I knew getting into any discussion with you would end up like this, that is why I have for years avoided your inane ramblings and will continue to do the
same again....You read what you want to into statements and twist them around to justify your ideals.....Keep up the cause and one day when your
silver spoon is gone, you will see how truly wrong you were.....

ruffryder,
While you ask a legitimate question in spirit, to paraphrase duffman's comments, you are confusing courtesy with respect.

Respect is, in fact, earned. How is up to the individual granting said respect.

For me, within the context of this forum, I judge a person based on the whole content of what they post. I try and read through the bad grammar and devine what they're trying to say (although sometimes it's difficult). Whether or not they like or agree with my POV is irrelevant. I'm a big boy, firm in my beliefs and open to differing opinions.

If a person posts facts, expresses themself with sincerity and keeps the hyperbole and ad hominem attacks to a minimum (we're all guilty of it, including me) then I am more inclined to respect their input. I may not agree and may post a counter argument but that doesn't mean I'm disrespecting them. It means I disagree with their opinion, conclusion, or assertion.

I argue to enlighten, and maybe change someone's mind, not to belittle although I have let emotion get the best of me a time or two.

I automatically extend courtesy and reserve respect for the deserving.
