Rep is distributed when someone is helped out or has done something good for someone on here or even a laugh. Would you want to buy something in the swapmeet or take advise from someone with nothing but red rep, I sure wouldn't. Its kind of a trust level on the forum and yes sometimes a game.
The BS is that someone gave you negative rep for not supporting Obama. (if I understood this correctly)

Rep doesn't really mean much, with a few exceptions.
Those being.
If your a seller/dealer, you obviously want green rep. If you have a lot of red people will be less likely to buy anything from you.
People with a LOT of red usually arn'te taken very seriously on input on such things as what parts to put on a sled, people looking for help with a sled or just their general opinions.
If you are looking for advice and you see a guy with loads of green that has been a member since 2001, you give that persons advice more creedience than someone that has been a member since 2009 and has 6 red showing.
Thank you for your service and you will always be welcome in our great country. That being said, I wish you would reconsider calling OUR duelly elected President a no good bastard. That isn't cool young lady.

I wish I were young. Is there some particular reason you think I am a female? Why am I a young lady in the eyes of a "hippie"? You lost me on that one. I agree with you, definitely you have the right to say whatever you want and your do not need approval to respect whoever you choose to respect.

Eh... after being an active member on any forum (or IRC channel) for a month or two, you kinda know who the real people are and who the morons/trolls are. Don't need "rep" to tell the difference; the name means more than the rep/postcount.
Only a guess, but I think sldgy is talking to Ms. Beckensale next to your name.
Red rep means they don't agree with you but aren't capable of having an intelligent discussion with you to debate their side.

And you do this why? You my friend have entirely to much time on your hands. What do you do when someone cuts you off in traffic, or fails to say excuse me when they are blocking the aisle at Walmart? Do you scream profanities at them, or pull out a gun and threaten them? Sorry, but wanting to track someone down for giving red rep is a tad exteme IMHO.

Umm... Hit the brakes there Mario, the road does curve outside of your world. Don't go accusing me of traffic and Wal Mart issues you go through. I will answer the one legit thing you said and that is "why". The friend I mentioned is on my pay roll. He is my guitto. Has been since the early 90's when I won a track championship. Came home to a trashed house, nothing left but the outside walls. They killed my pets too. I never did anything to anyone to deserve this. Never have. Just legally won a season. We watch our back since, that is all. Potential threats are passed on to our attorney since that event.
