Renting Avalanche Beacons

This year we are heading out around New Castle, CO to do some riding. Since we only make it out to the mountains once a year none of us have bought beacons. Is there anywhere in or near New Castle that we could rent some for a week? We are coming from Minnesota so if you know of anywhere along the way we could stop and pick some up, that would work too. We usually just rent some from the lodge we stay at but we are not staying at a lodge this year which kinda sucks but were saving lots of money this way.

Also, how is the early season riding around this area? We have never been here before. One of our friends moved out there about 2 years ago and he is going to be our guide so to speak. Hopefully he has found some good spots in his time out there. We will be arriving December 27th and riding for 5 days.

Thanks for any information!

Joe

Make sure you also have or get good shovels and probes. And make certain to practice with them all.

There have all ready been 9 avalanches with 10 buriels. No fatalities, yet.

Yea, we've made a few trips west before so we are familiar with how beacons are used and we have avalanche probes and shovels, just not the beacons. We have always rented them from whatever lodge we stay at. This year we are staying in a hotel and are going to have to trailer everyday to the riding areas. We will see how it goes.

Thanks for the help you guys. I called Wilderness sports today and reserved 6 of them.

Can't wait to get on the sled. No snow here yet in the U.P. of Michigan, just flurries here and there!
