Remembering a friend... Animal 1-08-05

I remember the first time we met and rode with us in Wyoming. It was a crazy low visibility day and he had gone over the bars head first in to a wall of snow. I laughed so hard once I found he was ok when he pulled his head out of the snow bank and slid off the hood of his cat. Many good times that day, will always remember him. RIP Animal

I remember all the things I read about him shortly after his passing. I was pretty new to snowest back then. I could only hope to touch just a few lives the way seemed to have for so many people. Never met the man but someday I will be lookin him up to go bust some clouds!

Rest In Peace

glad to hear his family in doing well.

I was just thinking the same thing.

Sad day

Rest In Peace

Sled'n Forever!

I only met him briefly on a couple of the Island Park rides, but feel as if I knew him because of all of his amazing friends on here and the benefit we had for him in McCall.

I am so glad to hear that Carolyn and the girls are doing well!

See - it took him 3 years to finally get on the big guy's side up there, but look at what he is sending us! One of the BIGGEST snow storms we have seen in a llooooonnnngggg time shows up on 1-8-08! Coincidence.............???????

:) 2fun

Snowest was a different place with him on it....It used to be fun and he was a HUGE part of that. Miss ya man:brokenheart:

I was just starting to get familiar with the forums when we unfortunately lost him. Dave seemed like an outstanding guy. We lost a great member of the forum, sledding community and his family lost a great husband and father. RIP

RIP Dave.......:brokenheart:

Let this thread be a reminder not to have anymore of these deaths!!!!!

Most poeple could only hope to be missed by a fraction of the number that miss Animal when they go.

I think that is a true measure of success in life.

R.I.P. A-nee-mal.

I never met him either but my Animal story is regarding that last ride. A buddy and I were trying to attend from here in MN as it sounded like a blast. Well, my buddy cancelled out so I PMd Animal that we couldn't attend etc.
He PMs back with the most friendly invite, something like it doesn't matter that it's just me and I didn't know any of them, to come on out anyhow, no problem, and they'd take care of me and it would be a great time.
Didn't make it out but I remember telling others of this friendly invite at the time.
Wish I would have had the opportunity to meet him in person.

I went by his grave on the 8th... It was sort of cold and the wind was blowing. There was a couple of inches of snow on the ground and I found myself brushing the snow away to find his grave.

It was sort of an unpleasant experience... made me really miss him.

Think about him every time I ride. He has elevated my caution level greatly and probably save my live many times through it! Keep up the good work my friend and continue watching over us all!

I didn't know Dave personally, but do think of him. I know that he rides often with my brother Tim now! May you both RIP, and at the same time may we learn some things from their being taken so soon. Glad to hear that his family is doing well. I know first hand that it's a hard thing, but life does go on, hopefully making us better people through realizing the kind of lives that they lived and examples they were.

I am from Canada and never had the pleasure of meeting Dave in person, however like many on here I was lucky to have contact through pm on several occasions... just chatting and getting to know each other. He was a special man.

He touched many in a short time.

RIP Dave!!

I remember lurking on the 4M and seeing the posts about his accident. I never met the man and it sounds like I really missed the boat. To have so many people still talk about him with such reverence speaks volumes for what kind of a person he was.

RIP Dave and everybody be safe. This year isn't starting out very good.
