Regrets

They will if you can prove that something they did wasn't right.... and that's what he is saying. I have a friend that smashed a brand new truck (his fault)-- and the airbag didn't deploy. They (not his insurance) replaced the truck..... kind of apples to oranges-- but you brought up trucks.

^ I have never heard of a scenario like that working in the auto industry my entire life. Either your friend has it twisted who paid for what, or there was a very extenuating circumstance (perhaps a known issue). Airbags not deploying when people thought they may have happens quite frequently....so I'm guessing it's either not that simple, or he has it twisted.

All of that aside, an airbag is also a "safety feature," and that opens up an entire different world of liability; one that doesn't really exist in the same capacity in the sled world.

Insurance?

Seems pretty straight forward....if you can't weasel polaris into paying then insurance should pick up the bill. Pretty simple...unless sled wasn't insured???? Then shame on you as your next 20mph side impact may not be with a tree and the least of your worries will be a broke bulkhead. Not trying to be mean but crap happens....cowboy up....file a claim with insurance and get it fixed, end of story.

BULL ,having worked for gm dealerships for 25 plus year ,there is no way in hell they would replace a truck, this would assure a law suit, and the money they spent on the truck would be nothing compaired to what they have to pay out by admitting liability. i've been involved with tear down and inspection of wreaked vehicles involved in these kinds of suits noway that happened. these guys are wound majorly tight when there are law suits involving liability,gm's district service manager even has a speical scan tool to read crash data that the tech's don't have access to,they wouldn.t even let us touch the thing.

This was a 20 mph side impact to ski only, impact barely even shocked the sled, fwiw I didn't expect any damage and just kept riding. I found the damage at the first rest stop.

And btw, The Doo heads had a lot of fun with it.

Your lower left rear a-arm is bent, also. Which helps explains why the bulkhead broke - it was a hard hit.

I've taken out a-arms on the pro RMK, fixed nuns on the Rev and XP, and ride with two welded up bulkheads on M's (M's failed from fatigue, not impacts). At least two of the other three break with frequency, too.

Updated - Oops, I replied before I read through the entire thread. Looks like you found the bend in the arm, too. Good luck, this is why God made insurance...

I don't give a $hit how long you worked for a dealership.... or if you believe it- doesn't change that it happened. You must be pretty important if you think that they needed to clear it with you....

I can't tell you the reason why they did it- maybe they were afraid of a law suit (im sure it wasn't because they wanted to be nice). ANd if you look at my first post- i didn't say it was a fender bender-- i said "smashed".... there was no doubt about it- the airbags should have deployed and they didn't.... and he got a new truck from the manufactuer.

Yikes, I have no first hand knowledge either way but I can speculate that this does nothing to protect them (GM, Ford, Dodge) from a class action lawsuit. The admission of wrong doing by a company is a slippery slope. JM2C

Look, it's not that we don't believe you specifically.....but that's just not how it works in the industry, and it doesn't even work logically in a business/legal sense. How does a free new truck even correlate to a fault with the truck that wasn't even the cause of the accident? If he sustained injuries from the airbag not functioning properly, why wouldn't he seek renumeration for that, as insurance would buy him a new truck anyways? Even for him it doesn't make sense....he wound up with nothing extra other than possibly skipping out on the insurance deductible....whoop dee doo? They don't give out free **** as a preventative measure against law suits.....they have a lot more money set aside for that type of thing than your buddy....pretty easy for them to deny everything while he burns up all his money. Nasty, but that's how it works.

All I'm saying is, I wouldn't portray it as "oh this happened to my buddy, so you can expect the same." If that is the full story.....that is the most whacked out illogical thing I've ever heard and I definitely wouldn't expect to duplicate it anytime soon....

enough about trucks and back to the sleds... Not worth arguing about that stuff here, no matter what anyone says its just he says she says and a waste of time...

Hopefully you had insurance on the sled, get it fixed and enjoy it, this doesn't happen often.

I was also disgusted Polaris did not warranty my track on my Pro, come on Polaris you made the track too thin and light and it could not handle being harpooned by a '"T Post" Not! ;) I feel for you too, But if Polaris bowed down and warranted things like this they would have to build tank and then they would go broke and we would all have to ride Cats (gag!)

Made my track look the same about a week ago, but it was the front torque arm from the suspension that broke and speared the track. Don't remember a specific hit that would have broke torque arm, but it happened. 120 for torque arm and 500 for used track and I'm headed west on Saturday...yee haw.

sorry deeds it must have really happened just like you said. still time for a few more rides on my 13:face-icon-small-hap

2012 SBA
This year I had the misfortune of catching a roadside guard rail with my left ski spindle. Was doing about 15 mph. Tore off upper and lower A arms and busted shock rod at the eye. Twisted the bulkhead to the left slightly so had to do some trimming of the new pivot shafts that bolt to the bulkhead. $600 to repair. Tunnel has a slight twist clockwise looking from the back end.
Sled spun around 90 degrees and launched me onto the highway. Spindle is not damaged except for the contact mark. There is alot of torque when you contact the outer end of the suspension. I doubt that i would have had chassis issues if I would have hit a rock or tree between the ski and the chassis. :face-icon-small-dis
