Buying this POS> built with chinese pot metal. Engine issues, never ending worry and "remedies" for factory shortcomings.

See ya POO laris, you can kiss my $ goodbye. :puke:Corporate *******s.

I was just sitting there minding my own business, and bam....broke on its own.

The quest for light weight, has sacrificed some strength in other areas for sure. I would suggest you purchase a Yamaha. They are built tough.

Man I feel for ya... I hate it when I break things too.

What caused the break Poman? ...Do you have any photos of the entire sled after the break while still assembled?

You must have hit "just right"...Somtimes that's all it takes.

I've seen RUSH's that clipped trees at 60mph that sheared off the a-arms and busted the whole tank, body plastic, over-structure that did not break the bulkhead.

Sorry to see you are having issues... The bulkheads are inexpensive and relatively easy to replace (would not have been possible on a previous model ) ... And they are made from a high-grade Aluminum Alloy and cast in the USA... In fact, they won awards with the design.

I'd like to see the rest of the sled as well. I have tagged several trees, including yesterday where I thought that I'd have more severe damage and so far the worst is a bent A arm.

All of you who have bent A-arms look at your tunnel in the footwell where the inside of you feet go. I'd be surprised, if that area of the tunnel isn't at least bowed out a little.

More pics?

This was a 20 mph side impact to ski only, impact barely even shocked the sled, fwiw I didn't expect any damage and just kept riding. I found the damage at the first rest stop.

And btw, The Doo heads had a lot of fun with it.

the bulk head is one of the things polaris has done well over the last few models
IQ-present. Ive seen and repaired lots of damaged parts and never a damaged bulkhead.

Thanks...I needed the laugh...

i agree and have seen this many times. The bulkhead is rarely damaged though.

Well they are designed to take frontal impact as far as break away points and all. even though it wasn't a hard hit, it was still a hit in the wrong direction.

Poman you won't get any support saying anything bad about Polaris here. Your first post should have included a full forensic report with pictures, video, your latest FBI background check, detailed metallurgy analysis, and a note from your Mom. I loved seeing the pics of your obviously well cared for mint condition sled in response.. All the nay sayers expected to see a smoldering pile of wreckage. Did you hit something with a ski or did you get hit from the side?

Matt... I am actually curious, like Robbie, if he had other damage he was not looking for as well.

Poman,

Sometimes "the perfect storm" kind of hit takes it toll... or a manufacturing defect in the production of your particular casting.

Not to put a damper on your problems with the cracked bulkhead...but just some background info on the bulkhead.

The Alloy, 369-Aluminum, is the same as used in Automatic transmissions of Ford/GM/Dodge.... pretty robust stuff.

Cast in St. Paul Mn. by PACE Industries.

The bulkhead castings have not been one of the "weak links" in this platform (though there are others) ... as evidenced by the lack of complaints on this forum about bulkheads overall in the last 4 years of this bulkhead in service... I've heard of some breaking... but not many at all.

Cost on part numbers 1017765 and 1017766 (left and right bulkhead pieces) is less than $110 each.
Much cheaper than an S-member on a Skidoo or similar parts on a Cat.... and faster to replace.

Is there any indication of casting defect around the crack that could be claimed on warranty?

I feel your frustration and if there is anything you need help with... ask away... I'll be glad, or others, to lend an hand.

From a previous post of mine back in 2010.
I wish I could find the photo of the before and after of a Rush that center punched a tree... messed up the bumper/radiator/A-arms/pipe/fenders/hood/motor mounts and some other stuff too... The bulkhead was fine and the sled went back together from the Insurance company.

This new bulkhead was built for strength and rigidity... repair is pretty straight fwd.. replace either side for about $150 in parts and 6 hrs labor.

Have a look at the awards that the casting recieved...CLICK HERE

Have a look at 5:13 into this video for some more details on this amazing piece of engineering.

side impact on a ski is the worst critter to deal with..

just remember 20 miles an hour on one side of your sled going forward and the other side saying no way i kinda like where i am and want to :stick: around...it is kinda a perfect storm..

over the years from all the impacts i have seen the one above always seems to sneak in the most unexpected damage..whether the one side is restrained for a millisecond or wedged the force ends up being very very significant sometimes..
hope ya find possibly some other contributing factor that may lead your dealer to look at a possible warrenty contribution..
