reed life with V-force3

Just wondering what kind of life everyone is getting out of the petals with V-force3 cages. Just found some w/ 400+/- miles on them and the tips are chipped and fraying. How far can you let this go and still ride?

Had a piston break last year and it took out one set of my reeds but the other side still looked perfect and that was with 1500 miles. Not sure why yours would be fraying at 400 miles. I put the stock ones back in. If anyone needs just one side let me know. Fits the 700 cfi.

There has been some posts on this subject. It would seem that the V-Force reeds may work well on the carbureted engines, they do not do well on the cfi engines. This due to the fuel induction area - behind the reeds with carburetors and ahead of the reeds with the cfi engines. Because of this, with the cfi engine, the incoming air charge is "dry" (no fuel to cushion the reeds) and they break. I have no emperical knowledge of this, but it made enough sense to me to cancel my V-force reed order for my new cfi sled. Hope this makes sense on why the reeds are breaking.

I have had them in my '08 Dragon since I picked it up. Had them checked when the new top end was installed and they were fine. 1200 miles.

That's amazing. I just pulled some apart with 800 miles that were wasted. Carbon Tech petals with stock cages will be going back in.

mine lasted less then 600 miles turning 8450..its not so much the fuel acting as a cushion as it is a cooler..it removes the heat made by the reeds from flexing so much.......

i had install a set of v force in my 08 800 dragon and didn't notice a difference and about 150 miles later motor blew up and when installing the new one checked out the reeds and the corners of the petals had chipped off i don't know if v force had a couple of bad batches of reeds but they better get there act together. that's alot of money for 150 miles

Just like has been said many times before on here...they do not do much on cfi engines and do wear out fast without fuel flow through them.

I installed the V-FORCE 3's on my 2007 D7 last season, exteremely minimal improvement on it's best day, wouldn't recommend them.

I put 1200 miles on them, now after reading about all the "durability" issues :mad:about 'em, looks like I'll have to remove and inspect, will post some feedback.

I've run the V-Force's before, 3000+ miles on several sleds, still looked good.

I've had/have several modded jet skis, 3 different performance shops (Riva, Rossier Performance, and an East Coast Shop) ALL discouraged me from installing V-Force's onto my Yamaha and Sea-Doo 2 -strokes citing durability issues.

Carbon Tech is what Rossier recommended for my Sea-Doo (which are still alive & well) and Riva said go with the stock Yami's:face-icon-small-hap

For what it's worth.

I ran the V3's on my Edge Liberty 800 motor and both pedals chipped within the first 500 miles of use. Mototasinari warrantied them for me though. I use the stock reeds on both my sleds now. I discussed this with indydan and he feels they are a waste of money.
