red lodge????

Looking for spot midway tween Seattle and Minneapolis for snowmobiling and skiing. Wondering if Red Lodge sledding has any appropriate play areas for flatlanders? They want to downhill as well. If not Red Lodge, any other suggestions?

Hi
Not much for sledding around Red lodge. Unless you want to try ridding up the pass But mind you this is for experts only!!
But Bozeman Big sky area has what your looking for,,
Snowmobile trails Buck creek / Carrot basin
and 2 ski areas Big sky and Moonlight Basin
you can access both from say BucksT4 Motel you can ride sleds from there to Buck creek area and there also a ski bus that comes thru every Hr I believe Both are about 20min away..
There also a couple sled rental shops along the highway there about 1 mile away from BucksT4 lodge.
there are also a couple other motels in the area this is just the one we normally stay at cause they have a nice hot tub and a kickass breakfast!!
Enjoy!!

thanks

Brother in law looking to ski Bridger again, so Bozeman it is. Any local shops where trail maps available? We'll be bringing our 4 sleds with, so no rentals needed.

Red Lodge no, Bozeman/Big Sky yes. Lots of sledding and skiing all in a close proximity.

just be careful if u ride buck creek

it is very easy to encounter Snow blizzard conditions up there. not fun at all

Cooke City is very close to Red Lodge, there is some awesome riding there. Rentals, lodging, restaurants, trails, everything you would need is there.

I believe the Skidoo shop in Bozo may have maps.. but its pretty easy to find the sled areas its about 1hr outta Bozo past the Big sky turn(stop light) about 8 miles. there's a bar called Corral Bar on the hwy just yards past that Is the parking lot on the right

Red Lodge

We stay in Red Lodge multiple times per winter and love it. Riding the Pass is not too bad but if you have some real inexperienced riders it should be avoided. If you don't mind driving a few hours to the top of the world it is worth the drive.

Another option, Cooke City or TOW for snowmobiling and Cody for skiing. Cody has nice motels. We also have the best western museum, Buffalo Bill. It will take you at least three days to witness it.

The infamous Cooke City is just west of there

and by just west what a 3 hr truck ride in good conditions.
we really want to give red lodge a shot deff a more friendly drive from Minneapolis than the 16to18 hr drives to alpine.
is there really no good riding ? or do u all say no good because of the lack of sled related services around the town?
I see some outfit is guiding out of red lodge now any one know anything about them?
if u have ridden out of there are u trailer every day or do u know of a ride in ride out spot if u bring a weeks worth of fuel with u?

For what its worth, I live less than 30 miles from red lodge, and we do not ride there. Bighorns, TOW, and Cooke are where we usually ride.

What Why Not?

Stuck, Why don't you ride out of Red Lodge when you live so close? We ride the pass and take what we call the short cut but it is not for inexperienced riders but it is not that tough with some experience. We love staying in Red Lodge.

Used to ride up from red lodge, haven't in quite some time. Been taking new people quite a bit and just haven't ridden much with experienced friends and when I do I usually meet them in cooke or farther West, since most of them come from the west to ride.
