Rear motor mounts, AGAIN????

Changing out my recoil today and I see that the rear motor mount on the Mag side is all ripped up again as I look through the hole where the bolt is. I just changed these last year, used the mounts from HPE and they probably don't have more than 3-400 miles on them.

What can I do to make these last longer than a few weekends worth of riding???

Is it possible that your compfusion mounts are so rigid that rear mounts are tearing instead of the front ones? Just throwing some ideas out there.

The motor still flexes slightly at the front mounts, I hope those high dollar pieces aren't causing other parts to fail. After I put them in, the crossmember broke in 2 so along came the new crossmember and while I had it all apart changing that last year is when I noticed the rear mounts broke. Now again today.....

Hmm, thats strange.. If you didnt have compfusion mounts and billet member, i'd say your stock mounts are gone, and rear is now taking the brunt of it.
i'd inspect both comp. front mounts for tear.. That oily spurts from y-pipe could have got in the urathane sqeeze to crossmember plate and made them slide,,which would tear them horizontally, like a fillet. And load is going to rear mounts... take your pipe off to see that mag side front mount. (you cant see the underside, but top one is a sign of condition)
Cause we all know the rears usually stay good....

I've to the pipe and recoil off so I have a pretty good view of the mag side front mount, looks good... not much oily residue down there with the cover I have over the throttle bodies catching most of it.

Well, im sure you know, rear's usually don't tear...

Only thing i can think of is,, next time you remove motor and put in new rear,,, when dropping in motor, put both rear bolts in just a few turns,, and front crossmember 4 bolts screw them in all the way minus final torque.

Look at your rear mount face to motor block,,,, is there a gap on the mag side,, like 1mm.... if so,, use a washer to fill the gap. Don't torque bolt to suck it to the motor,, it will flex strain mount that 1mm... Same with other side..

If this is not the case, (gap), yes this could be front rigid and load a resinating vibration going to rear mount.

Just exposed the PTO side..... same thing, ripped around the bolt hole.

HPE only has 1 left too.

Got a new set of stock 06 front and rear mounts coming, now I have to decide whether to change out the compfusion mounts for the stock ones to see if that solves the problem or just replace the rears.

Nobody else going through these??

Haven't heard much about rear mount problems. If you don't have the SLP torque arm set up and are not too concerned about risking ruining another set of rear mounts, then I would just install the rears. If you remove the compfusions, I would look into the SLP setup with the stock mounts and see how that works out for ya.

Already have the SLP torque arm and push arm.

SLP torque / push arms, AND Colins front mounts? maybe it's too much all together. When I ordered my front mounts from Colin, he recommended that I not use the SLP stuff together with his mounts.

Just like you I broke the stock x-member shortly after installing Colin's mounts, and replaced it with a billet piece from Franz. I have had no mount or belt problems since.

Well, I'll stick with his mounts and ditch the SLP parts and see what happens. Leaving for a trip Friday, would really be nice to take it with, but parts wont likely be here until Thursday afternoon.

I took the SLP torque arm off when I installed my compfusion mounts and haven't h
ad any problems.

Dont feel to bad, just pulled my motor to do top end upgrade and all 4 of mine are shot again. Gonna have some delrins made to backup my new ones. Should out live me. Way upside down on this machine now but oh well. Be a bear, BE A GRIZZLY.

If you notice when tightening the rear mount bolt, on the last 1/4 to 1/2 turn of the bolt to torque, the bushing of the rubber mount rotates/twists.

If you over torque bolt, you spin that bushing, and that rubber it loaded with that twist...

Then some vibration, and the mount tears at that bushing like what you have.
