Really how much better is the 1000?

A 153 M1000 with a pipe can and head. Is there that much of a difference from a 162 KK pipe can head. How much is the wieght from the two?

Night and day diff, U shouldnt even try to compare.......Cargo plane to a jet fighter. The King is dead.

the KK set the standard. And to some ole skool modders, its still the easiest and cheapest platform. But the m-chasis you can ride all day, every day effortlessly.

Long live the King, its still the most relialible sled ever!

I prefer the m-platform....but geebusss i've seen some awesome riders do wonders on the KK.

I agree 100 % the King set the bar very high . And a well set up king will lay the smack down on a 162 M1 . But the M chassis is so much better .

The King will pick on the M1000 , but the guy on the King will wish he owned the M after he gets back to the truck .:beer;

I think the KK was at 508# A 1M 159 @ 514# So I could safely assume that the '07 M1 was a little better in the suspension dept. at the rear, And much better in the front? To me the rear suspension of a M7 was almost identical with the KK, But what really separates the two is the front suspension and the layed back engine design? The question is can the KK be modified up front to simulate the later chassis design suspension wise? Weight can be dropped but the forward engine placement may hinder any outcome to duplicate?

I have one of each. I loved the Old chassis but the M1000 is so much more fun to ride I would never go back. I let my son ride the KK. But I do think my old KK would win in a drag race or on the hill! JMO:beer;

There's quite a difference, both have power but not the same type.

Havn't really compared stock to stock, but It seems that although the 900 KK has more snap that give the same track length, the M-1000 wll out perform the King in the steep and deep. The newer chassis is worth 15 HP, not to speak of the ease of sidehilling.
That being said, I love my 975 mod King with the 162'' Camo Extreme it has punch that the diamond drive cannot match.
For a good combination of moutain riding , I'd rather ride my M-8. It's so close to any stock 1000 it's just silly.

if your comparing a 07-08 m1 to a kk it depends on who set it up the m1 is a better sled but the setup can make either one better than the other. The 09 is not even comparable especially after a few mods, hell a well setup 09 m8 will stomp a kk and either 09 with slp or SW pipe set up right will just embarrass a kk unless it has major mods. Just the diff from a 08 to a 09 makes it work so much better its hard to beleive its the same chassis.

Well crap now I dont want a KK, and cant swing the price of the M10. Now I dont know what to do?

how old are you

im just getting off a kk.sure you gotta throw it around,sure youre tired at the end of the day no it does not sidehill the same as a m-series.but they (mine )can run all year not have and problems except bushings in the secondary every year and thats riding 1k .no belt problems when the m's and xps turn out at the top.great power out of the box.set everything up as loose as it gets .im 40 and love it i just have rode too many new machines just dont hop on youre buddies til you can afford to step up.to me i would have to do alot to a 7 to make me happy but i weight 220 thats probably a factor.once you get on a new machine youre hooked sorry

I have an 03.5 900 KK with the 162x16 track, running stock other than a 4-pro primary. And I also have the 07 M1000 stock with the 162x15.

Side by side drag race the 900 will run side by side. The KK will pull the M1000 off the line just because of the better track. But the M1000 will catch it on the top end.

In the steep and deep the M1000 will put a good 15-30' more on the climb then the 900KK. It just floats better and keeps pulling.

And I know I will get blasted for this but the KK sidehills MUCH easier than the M1000. the old KK chassis is effortless to hold a sidehill. You have to balance the M chassis much more.

But at the end of a hard day the M1000 will not work you as hard. Just a better ride, better on the rough trails, rider position etc.

I have well over 4000 miles on my 900 and have yet to pull the heads off. IMO it has been bullet proof. Can't say that about the M1000. Kind of a pain in the a$$ to get it to run right. I am not a big EFI fan at this point. Two top end rebuilds in 1000 miles. :(
