Re-Installing Skid '03 1M

Okay, i did a 144 to 159 track swap complete with new rails, tunnel, rolls etc. Trying to bolt the skid back in, and I can either get the front set or rear set of bolts hooked up, but not both. Am I missing something simple??? What's the easiest way to get the skid bolted back in?

Thanks!

If you can, set your skid that you pulled out of the sled and see if the suspension is in the same position. If it is in the same position, bolt up the front mount then raise the tunnle untill the holes line up.

Hope this helps..

Are you using the metal front mount plates on the skid that bolt on? Are they mounted in the right holes? You can bolt them in two different locations by about 2" to 2.5" I am sure the drop brackets are mounted on the hex shaft in the right position, Angled forward? Rear shock wheel shaft has a couple different mounting locations for and aft, Maybe some of these will help?

unload the torsion springs, makes life alot easier

Yep, take the springs loose from the rails.

put a 4x4 under the front of the track about where the boggy wheels are on the front of the skid. Then lower the back of the sled down until you get the front holes to line up. Then pull the 4x4 out then continue to lower the tunnel down onto the rear of the skid. I put a 2x4 across the suspension to hold it up (without the spings it will just colapse down. A 2x4 holds it about perfect. Make sure the part of the suspension that holds the bottom of the shock that has the two boggy wheels is rotated up. It will want to rotate down without the springs, You can get it together this way and it will ruin your day and your track. So it needs to be up. Just line up the two back points, pick the sled up, put the springs on and your done. Kind of a pain but with some trial and error not to bad.

If the suspension is a little off it won't be too bad! If it way off it could be a bind during compression. You may have to pull the rear suspension crossbar stop and the rear suspension will rotate forward if needed. Then once bolted in re drill the suspension stop forward in a new location. If not far enough forward to clear the existing holes, Slide on a plastic tube/hose to the .625" bar for a softer stop. This will keep the rear scissor from chipping all the paint off the weld area and rusting.

Hope this helps

Released the springs and it went right together. What pisses me off is my buddy suggested that and I had to admit he was right!

Thanks for the help guys:beer;:beer; now it just needs to snow.
