"ratcheting" chain? what does it sound like

I was out riding today, and what I kept thinking was my track ratcheting confused me. I have switched to avid drivers this year and a track thats clipped every 3rd window. I know PLENTY of sleds running similar setups, with MORE power and a lot looser tracks and they wont ratchet. my track has 0 sag when hanging in the air. when im full boost climbing and come down full load on the track, it sounds like what im used to as the track ratcheting sound. I would just beleive this, but its hard to, and on the way out today i was sidehilling and blew my chain in half. this makes me think that i had been a little forget full on tensioning and it got a bit beat up.

anyone have any thoughts on this, just curious as I dont like running my track as tight as it is, and signs on the track and drivers dont seem to be showing it, so im now leaning towards the chain.

any thoughts would be much appreciated.:face-icon-small-con

From my experience, a ratcheting track will transmit much more vibration to the rider than a ratcheting chain will. Although, the only time I've felt a chain ratchet, it wasn't very much.

If your track is that tight, I don't see how this could be a driver/track connection issue, assuming correct pitch, etc.

A track ratcheting sounds more like a low pitched "dunk, dunk, dunk" sound whereas a ratcheting chain sounds much more like your typical metal on metal sound.

Hopefully this helps. :face-icon-small-con

anytime I've had a chain ratchet it usually don't happen for long. If it starts slipping it won't be long before it won't grab at all (like a mile or 2)...
