raptor springs on 15 pro rmk

I'm interested in hearing more real world experience as well.

I have a set coming to but on my 15 Pro TD 155 and wondering if I should have picked up the firm rear spring and not the standard. I'm ~200lbs dressed. Jake told me the firm is really only for the heavy guys closer to 300 and up.

What sold me on trying these (aside from a good deal from Snowest) was after talking to Jake I can order their shocks at a later date springless to have the complete package when I have the funds.

Depending on how the season goes I will decided next summer if I just want to have my WE revalved and serviced or if i will pony up and complete my raptor package.

Hopefully within a couple weeks I will be able to get some significant riding time on them and give you my opinion

i have one ride in on the shocks. definitely softer than the factory. i had them set to raptors suggested starting spots. i am 210# without gear.

the ski shocks were too soft initially. sled wanted to dive really easily. 2 turns on the springs made them better. rear track shock gave 3” of ride in, and i was bottoming. i turned the spring up 2 turns, it was better, but still bottomed a bit.

i am going out today to do some more riding and testing. will report back

added 3 turns over suggestion on the front ski shocks, 2 over front track shock, and 4 over on rear track shock. seems to be pretty good now. will be out tomorrow for more fun!

I have them all way around on 13 pro 163 couldn't be happier with them. Jake is great to work with. One thing you have do is be honest with weight how much weight is on tunnel bag and you. IMO these shocks need to be set stiff and ride it like you stole it. That's what they were designed for.

Im having a problem with my front raptor "triple rate springs" on the front of my 2013 pro 163. The softer portion is fully compressed with the shock all the way loosened and when youre not even on it. Can someone explain to me how you're going to get a softer initial spring rate when the top few coils are compressed all the way?

i got my springs dialed and they seem to be working good. i only bottomed twice yesterday, but those were on big hits.

i really don’t like the amount of sag/ride in these rear springs have. they make it a real pain in the *** when lifting the rear of the sled to get unstuck. the first 3” of pull is just extending the shock:face-icon-small-dis makes is real difficult when you are pulling up on soft snow:face-icon-small-sad

I have a set of raptors springs. They are the base springs. Had them in my pro for a short time. Decided to go with shocks is reason I took them out. They were better and with a little preload cured the bottoming out.
200 cash takes them.

Send some pictures to marketing@raptorshocks.com and we'll take a look to see if we can tell what is going on. Sounds pretty unusual.

My front trs springs are the same, softer portion fully compressed.. used for two seasons, just noticed it now when i switched them over to my 2015.

My riding partner installed the springs on Polaris RMK PRO standard shocks last year and it made a big difference on the handling and ride. I was so impressed that I bought a full set up of Raptors for my 2013 PRO RMK last year. As things happen I traded the 2013 for a 2015 PRO and installed the Raptors and K Mod 37" arms on the new sled. I have 98 miles on it and combined with the 37" K mod A arm kit can say that I've never rode a sled that handled so easily and responsively. The 2015 clickers are on my partner's 2013 PRO with Raptor springs and the 37" K Mod arms and he is also very pleased with the results. We'll be in Is. Park riding Dec 26 thru Jan 1.

I got 250 miles on last weekend with the TRS springs all the way around on my 15 Pro RMK TD and I loved them. I dont have my notes in front of me but I tightened them all up a bit more than their recommended starting point and they rode great. Never bottomed and handled everything from rough stuff to the small stuff smooth. This was all mainly on beat up UP trails during the trip with the family. Everyone was beat up from the trails except for me.

If you've removed the swaybar when you put on the Raptor Triple-Rate-Springs (TRS Springs)... then your front end WILL be spongy... just like a stock one will.

I've run this spring set on other friends sleds... some heavy, some light and the sled worked well... So, I don't know... maybe some of you have "sacked out" shocks...

If you have one season of riding on them (or more than 800 miles) ... send them in for service and request ONLY full synthetic 5W shock fluid be used... rather than the factory Walker Mineral oil used.

.

To add more information based on mountainhorse's response. I still have my sway bar connected and walker evans clickers are brand new on my sled. I did notice that the softer portion of my trs springs are mostly used up in sag as the sled is just sitting there but didn't not find that it hindered the small bump compliance at all. Sled floated over most everything i through at it.

I do plan on having my shocks serviced after the season if I dknt decide to get the raptor shocks instead

Is it normal for the sled to sit much lower in the rear? The springs really lowered the rear ride height on my sled.

It is normal to have more ride in (sag) with our springs installed. You can increase the pre-load to get the ride height back if you want but we always tell people to ignore what it looks like on the garage floor and get out, ride it and tune by how it feels.

Thank you Mountainhorse for the note on the sway bar. It's something we forget about because we don't do it. Disconnecting the sway bar can really make the sled feel more rolly in certain situations and we don't typically recommend that with our spring packages.

Great tip about freshening up the shocks as well. It's something that is often overlooked.

Std rate TRS:
180lbs with gear
Started at recommended spring lengths, riding in MN ditches.
Too soft in front and rear-rear. Added one turn to the fronts and 3 turns to the rear-rear and it's way better.
