Rail Powdercoating

So I thought I had the powdercoat color decided for the rails. . . I have arctic cat green powder that I was going to do. Now I am thinking maybe black may look nicer? Or maybe another color?

Give me some ideas.

Here is the sled. Also plan to do the spindles next.

X2; black will give a much better contrast to the green suspension and also carry the black/green from the front suspension through the sled also. Black, baby!

I slightly agree but I really like the green on the 13 hcr. MAybe I should just repowder the suspension arms black. . . .

Also forgot to mention the fronts on the sled are floats now as well so no green up there.

Im looking for black spindles and or rear skid arms in black to trade for my green if anyone is interested. I have green hood panels too that I want black.

With the floats up front you've still got the green bumper. I'm thinkin Black rails and then a green stock size windshield would add a nice touch.

Well here are the rails. . . I am not happy with the finish. I like the color but for some reason it is rough. I want it smooth. It seems as though the one end is the biggest problem. I am thinking my oven at work has a cold spot in it. I am going to try to recure them tommorrow morning hopefully this works otherwise I am going to have to blast them and start over. . . . That would suck.

Well tonight using the fantastic google. I realized that something likely had gone wrong in the process today, First i used a different brand powder than I typically do and I used a different oven that I usually don't use. I found myself not wanting to reheat the rails to just see what happens. So after doing some searching I found another option to remove the powder coat.

Mar-Hyde Paint stripper. It works amazing. It bubbles up within a couple min. The best way to use it is to spray the part and put in a garbage bag in the sun for a half hour then just pressure wash clean. Of course no sun here right now so I am going to have to just bag it in the garage.

Likely will not do green again now because I am not sure what caused the issue if it was the powder or what and I can't find the right color in the brand I typically use.

How bout white, I put the white belly pan on my sled and the white really pops. If it wasn't all tore apart I'd snap a pic for you but that'll have to wait. I remember from college (barely) when doing what your doing to use the least amount of color on the sled (white) to create more accent. Those were the daze! :hippie:

Here is is assembled. Pics are not the best as it is just a phone pic and the garage is currently a mess(almost embarrased to even share the pics).
