Race sled forum? 08 sno pro 600 mod

I know this isnt the end all of flatland race sled forums, so i really wouldnt expect to find a seperate sub forum for sno pro's. But why isnt there one? There are more than a handful of people with them, and i figure mountain sleds are the ones that get run the hardest and people would know what would and wouldnt break on them.

Anyhow, ive been looking at an 08 snopro 600 mod on the local craigslist for denver and was considering picking it up. My big thing is i want it to run on pump gas. I know on a standard sno pro you retard the timing, and adjust jetting for the slower burning pump gas. But what does it take to convert a mod over? I would guess it would take: clutching, jetting, swapping out domes, and switching to a stock single pipe. Would i be correct? Im not noob to race sleds, but i am to the sno pro chassis and 600.

Thanks for the help,
Dakota

I have a 08 600 snopro with mod kit, I run it 50/50 91 and race gas with timing turned to 1. All I did was a little lighter wieghts and jet acordingly to elevation. I never tried pump gas striaght because the compresion with the mod kit is high and I didnt want to risk it. keep in mind these motors are designed for race use and I run mine in the hills so it is to the bars more than usual I would give speedwerx a call and see what they think because it is thier kit. good luck

As said give speedwerx a call for good info on this motor. But if the sled was set up to run race gas at sea level? If so you will be able to run a lot lower oct. fuel in the mountains around Denver.

I plan on bringing it back to the up when i head back. Id personally never consider the mod portion other than the price appears to be right. Id like to set it up to just a factory racer.

Th 600 SW motor has aluminum PV's which randomly snap off & fall into the motor... a delightful feature, ESPECIALLY when you see what the replacement price is for the PV's & the piston they destroy.

You can't buy these parts from cat, you have to get them from Jeremy. I'd avoid the sled if you can, You can run it on 91 with 2 gal of 112 here.

Fun sleds, I learned a lot on mine, but I'd never buy another one again.

btw... what was your excuse for not riding this weekend again???? Too busy buying flatlander sleds????:D

Heading to Jefferson in about 90 min...

Broke, I was hoping to have a job already lined up by the time i got out of school but its been slow. Really annoying to have a company tell you they will get you in for a weld test asap and nothing actually happens. Dont really have a ride to get through the mountains either. My little truck does fine getting to like bills house but i dont think id drive it to like rabbit ears or winter park. I suppose if you guys got a trailer with an open spot i might be able to go next weekend, should have some more money by then.

Eh, i think i could live with a snopro. The valves break rarely. I just dont want a pop can of a chassis(rs) or a sled that handles like crap(IQR).
