Rabbit Ears is Great! Everyone ride there!!!

These posts crack me up. Locals whine about citiots or gapers, or whatever name calling they come up with, when it is those very tourists that create the jobs for those towns to prosper. Yes, parking can be a PITA, no different than going to a Broncos game, deal with it. We rode Sunday and I only saw 1 other group all day and enjoyed super deep fresh tracks all day.

Ill ride with you x fire!! Im all about it!!

You don't want to ride with that dude... he's some noob from out of state, I've heard he can't even ride ;) (and his name implies that he's a short track badass... but he's really a long track sally. :D)

I do find it funny how many of these out of state "tourists" come out here & friggin RIIIIP. I've met so many guys from other places who I totally expected to be giving the low key tour to, and they were WAY better riders than I expected.

As to the ears, Fer F sake, there are other places to go... and even other places to park. I've only seen one weekend ever when I couldn't park in one of the two main lots, and that was a 4' day after weeks of nothing last year.

As the lot gets more crowded though, people WILL start learning that the ears isn't the only place to ride in CO.

What he said^. If you show up at 11 on Saturday what do you expect to happen? I'd be far more concerned if parking wasn't a problem. That means snow/riding area sucks. We leave Denver at 5am and have never had a problem parking wherever we want. Last weekend saw one group on Satuday and heard one group on Sunday.

WooHoo

Just a FYI.. This Chitty dweller will be heading to RE tomorrow.... OH CRAP I am not a Native Colorado Either :(2 strikes for me!!!!!!!!!! RE is a nice place to ride. I will be there tomorrow around 9 or so. I have some tuning left to do on my sled. Anyone else hitting RE tomorrow??

Hillybilly or Kenny. either one is fine

It's a big mountain guys!! I think there's enough snow for everone.

Not when 3/4 of it is closed to sleds. The sledding area is quite small

Not really. RE is a pretty small riding area when compared to other places, especially places in UT, ID, MT, WY, etc. Its only about a 6x18mi half moon shaped plot you can legally ride. Most riding areas in CO are actually pretty small when compared with other western states on an acreage basis.

Dis be true, yo!

Ride Steamboat Lake, Hahns Peak area. During the week you'll be lucky to see anyone. Diamond Park is a must see. Take the trail up the Seedhouse Rd. Awesome.

Live in Illinois and recently traveled to CO, specifically Kremmling and rode at RE. Places I spent my money included The Allington Hotel, the gas station, the grocery store, Alpine Motorsports, the local restaurants and bars for every meal and drink at night, and my out of state riding sticker, maybe I forgot one. All totaling roughly $800. I didn't realize I was not welcomed in "your state." At least that's what I gather from reading multiple posts here from locals.

Of course I didn't travel alone. 4 from out of state and 4 more from within CO but out of town. Multiply this by 3 since that is how many trips I usually take to CO every winter for the past 4 years and it adds up to a lot of $! But since you want the mountain to yourself go ahead and tell the surrounding towns that you will be cutting their sales in half. I'll bet you leave your own house with breakfast in your stomach, your lunch packed, fuel tank full, ride for the day before loading back into your truck and driving home for dinner. Good for you, I'm jealous. Just don't hate me for traveling to your state/riding area and spending my money there!

We're actually nice people..

Don't worry about those people thinking their so much cooler than you, their not.. There are douches everywhere.. Ever go to France or Hawaii?? The locals there who work in the service industry are jerks too.. But, if you get out and really meet the people who make the place go round, you'll see that Frenchies, Hawaiians, and Coloradoans are some of the most friendly people you'll ever meet. With the exception of folks from the Midwest!! Their the nicest people in the world!!

If you want to private msg. me, I'll give you my number and we can meet up when you come out. I'll show you all his secret spots.. lol..

Secondly you can tell he's from Steam Boat by the arrogance in his post..

Facts about Steam Boat.. Your mountain is short, you lie about the amount of snow you get, your girls are ugly, you don't know how to drive, your bars suck, SB people are smelly, and most importantly your scared of Summit County!! We love tourist's here in Summit and cater to them as much as we can.
In closing, please don't assume all Coloradoans are like this guy. We're happy, upbeat people who would be glad to tell you the best restaurant's, best riding for your group, and buy you a beer in the bar.

Thanks M8000LTD, I'm from the Midwest, came to CO several years ago and fell in love with it. Bought a place in Summit County and take advantage of all CO has to offer (I even like skiing, but don't tell anyone). Some of the posts here can kind of make a non "native" feel unwelcome. If it weren't for tourism a lot of these communities would struggle. Come to Minnesota or northern Wisconsin and you will be welcome with open arms and a cold beer!

Haha...Ok, ok, only one of those things is right, but all of Colorado doesn't know how to drive so that could be any town. Alright, so we smell a bit too, but what real mountain man doesn't?

Having lived in a busy tourist area for the last decade or so, I do not really agree with the attitude that we need tourists. The problem arises when tourists think they are doing us some huge favor by coming in and spending money. That attitude is what causes the bad blood. I LIVE here, I work here, my kids go to school here, this is my home. My job would not change if tourism slowed or stopped. I think those of us who live in these places just ask that you respect them and leave them like you found them.

Being from the midwest originally, I have less trouble with midwesterners. Try Texans on as tourists though... I hate summer tourism, those are the rudest bunch of morons you could ever hope to encounter. Winter slows them down and is my favorite time of year to be here, quiet and beautiful. Now living in an actual ski town... now you have two tourist seasons, I just couldn't (wouldn't) live like that.

I am always happy to show new riders around though:face-icon-small-hap
