Rabbit Ears is Great! Everyone ride there!!!

I'm very glad that everyone and their grandmothers are posting and going to Rabbit Ears, especially the out of towners! Because of you, my 4 secret spots have stayed secret all winter long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets see how many riders we can cram into Rabbit Ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :gossip: :pop2:

There's somewhere to ride other than the ears or fail pass??? Weird.

I say this when I've been riding at Gaper Lake more & more lately...:face-icon-small-sho

Im an outta-towner and ride The Ears once a year. Im sure there are better places that "locals" know but fact is for us Steamboat makes the trip. Im there on vacation so some night life is nice. We drive past Laramie on the way because of this. Cheap hotel rooms and a city wide free bus system is huge.

Its weird cause on here it seems like The Ears is so packed but fact is we don't see other sleds after the first 15 minutes. And its not like I have a vast knowledge of the area, just point a direction and we ride. The parking is a pain but we just try to arrive early as possible.

Is there an area other than RE/Buff that would be feasible while staying in Steamboat? Maybe its a secret, but secrets don't make friends.

Sure. The area around Steamboat Lake is great. The area is huge.

I feel for Tom999 but fact is that RE is getting some of the best snow around so the gapers flock to it. I went Friday and our truck was the only one with Colorado plates. We rode 35 miles in some of the deepest snow I have ever been riding in. Saw nobody but I could hear them.

I blame SnoWest and the Golden Boy. RE didn't get packed in the parking lots until they wrote an article and he started his guiding thing. But what are you gonna do? It is what it is?

You don't like it? Go ride Wolf Creek, Irwin, Crested Butte, Grand Mesa, the Flat tops or Snowies. RE is packed due to ease of access due to parking, plain and simple.

yeah I think after last weekend I'm pretty much done riding at rabbit ears that was the most epic cluster **** I've ever seen in my life. it makes green rock look like a paradise.

I heard that. This weekend won't be any better.

Wow Tom!! If your as local as you seem to think you are, then you would just shut up and be thankful there is a place like RE for tourists to go to.. Why act like there is a "locals" spot for them to research and go to.. My guess is, that you've only been in Colorado for a year or two and call your self a "local". I know I would not have a job if it wasn't for the tourists coming on vacation here, and I'm very thankful for that.. So Mr. 6month local, remember why it is you get to be a lifty at an amazing place like Colorado and not pressing bumpers in Iowa..

^spoken like a true local. I live in Steamboat and the only reason I get to live here and do what I do is because of tourism. Plain and simple.

I do think Tom has a point though, its just written oddly. There are countless areas to ride in Colorado and surrounding RE, but because everyone has a stiffy for RE, the other places are dead. I've been sledding places around here and I'm the only truck parked.

I hope it stays this way.

I love riding RE here & there, but there are a ton of places I can ride closer to home, so most days I do. It's a fun place to ride though, and despite the cluster, I don't remember the last time I couldn't find untracked at RE... There's a reason it's popular.

We rode Colorado last April for the first time ever. If I were to rate the riding, food, price, scenery, friendliness, and overall experience? On a scale of 1 to 10.
10 being the best? 10!

As a Vikings fan, go Broncos! ......rant over......:face-icon-small-coo

It's a big mountain guys!! I think there's enough snow for everone.

Not really. RE is a pretty small riding area when compared to other places, especially places in UT, ID, MT, WY, etc. Its only about a 6x18mi half moon shaped plot you can legally ride. Most riding areas in CO are actually pretty small when compared with other western states on an acreage basis.

All you guys who live close to RE, and are getting to enjoy all that great snow, and are complaining about overcrowded parking lots and lots of people can bite me. There is a far worse problem that you can have-no snow-which is exactly what we are getting over the last month in southwest CO. I'm freaking dying here! I had to drive to Winter Park/Fraser two weeks ago to enjoy some good powder riding.

It's amazing how little you guys are getting down there. Hope it finishes strong.....I'd love to make your way this season.

Amazing and pathetic. It was a strong November and early December, but since then-nothing. This last 4-5 weeks has been dry as can be. It better start snowing and soon or this place is gonna burn this summer.
