QUIET Silencer alternatives

I bought a KX450 a while back off a guy who heavily modded the bike. I'm really not pumped about the big gun exhaust it came with. I need to wear earplugs to ride the bike and I'm really hoping to find an alternative. I would be happy to buy an aftermarket exhaust that would be quieter than factory. Kawi wants over $600 for the stock silencer... Any input appreciated.

Have you tried ebay for the stock silencer... have you tried to repack? When you say heavily modded is there engine work... that will increase the noise itself.

I'm with you... I don't care for the super-loud aftermarket exhausts. But that's the first upgrade so many guys will do the minute they get a bike. So ebay is a great place to go to find a good deal on a used factory setup. I paid $100 for a stock exhaust for my WR450F and sold the FMF it came with for about $250. The market seems backwards to me. ;-)

It seems like pro circuit has the best sounding aftermarket exhaust. It's a very low grunt instead of a high popping noise that the KX normally makes. The KX is definitely the loudest stock exhaust out there.

and when they get blown out at ALL they are insanely loud. KX's are nasty.

I would really try a repack first .... if you don't know how many hours are on the muffler.

EBay stocker, or Lexx mxe off rocky mountain. The lexx has a few different tips and is $200. I've had everything from akrapovic to FMF

I'll try a re-pack this weekend. Taking the bike down to West Yellowstone next week and would like to not have to replace my ears after 5 days of riding... I'm willing to sacrifice some performance for peace and quiet.
