Quick question about riveting my running boards back on

Does anyone know what size rivets are recommended for the running boards? And also is there a reason why they rivet them from the bottom and not the top?? Any help would be great. Thanks!!

3/16 steel rivets.

Not sure why there riveted from the bottom, quicker/easier to do it that way when there going down the assembly line...?

they rivet them from the bottom because the material of the boards is much thicker than the aluminum of the tunnel. it does not look that great but it is sructualy correct if you realise how a rivet expands.

Its easier to get the rivet from the bottom up, and the rivet gun wouldn't be square with the tunnel side impeding the rivet gun from the top. I use the adp ultimate rivet, they are aluminum, but so is the tunnel material. They held up for a season with no issues. They use a steel nail though.

Additionally; by inserting the rivets from the bottom you gain some traction points on the top and it leaves a smoother surface on the bottom which is that much less for the snow to catch on as it slides past the bottom of the boards.
