Question on riding techniques.....

That high lift looks pretty interesting. Seems like an easy way to get unstuck by yourself without digging a huge pit. It is no fun waiting for someone else to help pick up the back of the sled. Probably quicker too.

I have found that when packing down the snow along the tunnel, sometimes you are packing it into the skid/ontop of the track. Makes more difficult to pick the back end of the sled up.

Is it possible to use the jack as a come-along like they do with the 4x4's? That would give you a lot of options if you had a gully or hole that you had to get out of.

Anybody tried loop end nylon strap

Snowbunji things work awesome but they are a hassle to pack around not to mention drag out of your pack and connect.

The best program we found was a five foot 1 inch wide nylon strap (like a dog leash) with hand loops on both ends. Fits easily out of the way in your pocket for quick insta-access. Same theory of leverage minus the rubber band stretch effect. You get about three times the starting force as pulling directly on the ski tips by hand. Plus you can release one of the hand loops on the strap and your buddy can keep going. (huge advantage over the snowbunji cause it's not attached) In a lot of deep powder boondocking situations just getting started doesn't cut it. You stop to gather your crap up and your stuck again.

Another cool little advantage is in some bad sticks or by stuck by yourself you just can't lift a sled out alone. You are normally in a bad angle with poor leverage. Wrap the strap around the bumper and over your shoulder using a straight back and your legs to lift the sled out instead of arms and a bent torso. You can manage more then twice the load and it works!

Also a good use is when you are screwed up in a really bad spot a buddy can hold your sled (we've wrapped them around the mtn bar for max leverage) from rolling off the world while you throttle walk it to safety.

This is an old guide gadget trick that makes a day with newbies a bit more tolerable.

Humm,

That's interesting Rob, I have a couple old leashes laying around.....
I have a loop that I use with my Snobunje. Slip the loop around the BACK of the ski, that way when the stuck sled gets going it can just keep going, the ski slips out of the loop. B

Anyone who hammers it from a dead stop out of a deep stuck.....LOL. Well, I guess you can tell how long they've been in the sport. They haven't been riding long enough to learn the old school way, back when the tracks were too short and sleds were light enough to "float" without a long track.

I use a combination of what ItDoAble and F-Bomb uses:

Drill the hole in the flipper and hook up parachute cord with a hand loop long enouugh to be about 10' in front of the sled, use the SnoBunjie with a second line with loop handle made from rubber hose which goes thru the ski loop and attached to the SB, have rider pull the SB, you pull on the loop line and with second hand pull the flipper cord. The sled will drive itself out of the hole---caution---too much throttle will cause the sled to leap out running over the guy with the SB. As the sled comes out of the hole, let go of the rubber loop and it will clear the ski loop and the sled is now on top of the snow.

As an alternative to above, ride with a 300# ex linebacker who rides clean-up:beer;

i ride an RX1 and my suspension has 22" of rear travel. its hard to get people to help me when im stuck because pulling it with hands is a time consuming operation. The suspension just flexes and the track never moves.

The jack is the only way to go :)

Yep Bagger just let go of one loop after you get the sled started and away they go! Works great for about $12! The real advantage is having it in your pocket for quick easy use. You also don't get mowed over as easy because your a little further away.
