question for those with aksnowrider clutching...

That describes aksnowrider to a "T". But no need to make his head bigger than it already is. :face-icon-small-hap Thanks for all your help Mike.

What is the rate of the stock polaris black primary spring? I am running a 60/40/.46 with two delrins and one slp spacer,red/black secondary spring, mtx 68 with 1 in tip and 1 in belly, and a stock primary spring. seems to work real well until 6500 feet then starts to loose rpm. Weather has been so warm in the cascades I have to believe It would run better at 20 degrees instead of 40 degrees. Any input? oh yeh 19-43 , slp single, v-force , lots of lightweight components ,-40 pounds, with 220 lb rider weight ,163 challenger extreme. I dont have the update however I do have 08 mapping with dual ring pistons, and I am using a attitude box in full fuel delete mode with fuel added back in at the midrange.

stock 08 black spring is 140/330.....try pulling both the red/black spring and the spacer on the secondary..try the stock black/purple no spacer, then add the slp green/pink in the primary..2 grams in the belly and 1 in the tip on the mtx 68's..that should make it pull at 6500 ft...

Monte...With the 62/42/.46 helix...it engages/hooks way better than the stock for comparison...which equals less trenching...climbs great, digs like a mule, stock 163 track & skid except Exit shock kit...boondocks great...on and off the throttle very responsive...you can feel the skid want to pop back up on the snow when you do the throttle thing. Again over all this is the best sled I have ever owned. Hope this helps. :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap Even a couple of my Cat buddies like it:face-icon-small-coo:beer;:face-icon-small-coo
you let your cat buddies ride your sled...lol..heck everytime we show up somewhere all the doo and cat guys leave.....am thinking its tims(the ultrarider) deoderant.....

well maybe you guys could help me out here a bit too...

09 assault w/ 155 dragon skid and 153 hcr powerclaw
slp pipe and air horn
PC 5
Carls helix, was set on shallow angle
currently stock springs in both clutches, 3 derlins in secondary
running some of Ron's weights at 61g

out in west yellowstone (i think around 8300 feet we were) it ran decent, 8100 rpm but fall off to 7900ish on a climb. i dropped to my 59g Rons weights and would spike higher, but still fall off to 78-7900.
same thing out in cooke city (9500ish ft), had the 59g weights from Ron and would do the same rpms as above, tried some 10-58s and was worse.
also was riding about 3/4 inch from full shiftout
after a long climb i jumped off and i could hold the primary for about 3 seconds then fingers got hot, secondary was quite a bit warmer than that yet.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as i have a bunch of 2010 M8s and XPs to impress with the only poo of the group

farmer do you know what the numbers are on carls helix's now?..when I got mine in 08 we got 62/42/.46 and I think the other cut is 64/42/.46..running 42 for the final angle is a lot to pull once you hit the 8000 ft. mark..I think if you can get somethng in the 60/40/.40 to as low as 60/38/.40 range you would be much happier..adding more primary spring to go along with the lighter helix should get the rpm's and the pull back up...as for rons weights they should rip..I would try them with the new helix and the spring and see how they do..hopefully you can run the 61's and pull 8400-8450 at 8000 and only drop down to about 8300 at 9500 ft....try this stuff and let us know how it does..including mph and max rpms...belt/clutch temps and the feel it gives you when riding....

the angles are 62/42/40 and 60/40/40 (where it was set) iirc... nice work :face-icon-small-coo
i had a new blue/pink after my other one broke but never put it in while i was out there because of the primary shift out, would a green/pink be too high of engagement out there?
max rpms were around 8250 when i reset but only run around 7900 up a climb, i think the speedo was about 40-45, so that kind of impressed me
what do you think about a slightly stiffer secondary (black/white 160-260) or wouldnt you mess with it?

i talked to Ron on the phone on my way out there, and he said because of the shift out i should try a slightly softer finish on my primary (which i never got around to) and that i should still be able to pull more than only 59 and 61g where i was riding. he mentioned that a dude with a similar setup as mine could pull 63.5g in cooke

hmm softening up the finish will lower rpms as well...hmm...you can try the black/white in the secondary..should raise rpms..hopefully it doesnt make more secondary heat...or keep you from full shift out..since I havent played with rons weights I dont know how they act..makes it tougher to figure out....maybe try each one..black/white sec as well as a 20 pd lower primary finsih rate alone..then togeather and see what it does...

I would also like to thank AK for sharing his set up and advice,Ron and Thefullmonte also, thank you! I have learned alot.

clutching

As of right now

Primary- slp 68 gram mtx weights 1 gram in belly, 2 grams in tip, with proper belt to sheave clearance, green/pink primary spring.

Secondary- Carls 62/42/.40 helix, 3 delrin washers, stock black/purple secondary spring.

Both clutches have been balanced, this set up will hit 8450 rpms, but going up hill in deep wet snow would be between 8150-8200 rpms, and my
computer memory showed a track speed of 52 mph. This clutching setup kicks a$$, awesome upshift, awesome backshift, and goes from first gear to full shift out in no time and is MUCH smoother than stock. This is with the 2311115 belt, stock pipe, v-force reeds, and slp can, and riding between 0-3000 ft.
