Hi guys, have had a few guys PM me wondering if this clutching setup works..since I dont know how many of you are running it(or close to it for different conditions/elevations)..would you mind putting in your 2 cents on how it works for you and what elevation and mods?...sure apreciate it....:face-icon-small-hap :beer;

09 800 RMK 153 Powerclaw track w/ 8 tooth drivers. Elevation 6-9000 ft. SLP Twin pipes, V-Force Reeds. SLP blue/pink primary. 58/40 Helix (going to try 38 ramp next ride) stock Poo sec spring, 2 Delrin washers. Dayco belt (excellent warranty) I have tried 62 bellybusters, 68 MTX(empty) and 10-60 Poo weights. Surprisingly, there is not alot of difference in RPM's. The 68 MTX were very "zingy". There are only 50 RPM's diff between the bellybusters and the 10-60. I would like to try 60 bellybusters if I had a hundred dollar bill to toss around. I am hitting 8200 pretty consistantly. The snow has been medium base with a super sugar layer undernieth. The sled flat out halls a$$ when it gets a little hookup. Struggles(as expected) a little more than the big bro 163 tracks. I always cuss my short track in the years beginning, but I'm always glad when we get more base that I stayed with the shorty.

nice idaho..with the shorter track you can pull the blue/pink..mine pulls it down here at low elevations(excellent for just champayne powder)but feels too loaded on any other snow...the green/pink makes the feel just right for me with the 163 2.5 camo-x....

AK you have been a great help over the past fews years with both my D8's. Here is what I have ended up with: 09 D8 163, SLP single pipe, 19/42 gears, vents, intake flowrites, two delrins, Team Green 150-340, stock secondary, 10-66's(testing a set of Ron's weights as well), Helix 62/42/.46, RPM 8300 +/-50, 3000-5500', Exit shocks all around. This machine runs extremely well and pulls hard all the way to the max RPM. Great throttle response over the entire RPM band.

I installed AKSNOWRIDER's setup (green/pink primary, 68g MTX weights with 1g in the belly, 62/42/.46 helix, 2 delrins, stock sec spring) and it absolutely rips!! I have the slp pipe set, PC3, SLP intake, fire n ice intake and it pulls 8350-8400 at 8000' and believe me there is a huge difference between 8100rpm's and 8400rpm's. Just installed boss noss npfi system so Ill let you know in a few weeks how it acts with a 60 shot running through it, might have to add a little weight

Ya, for sure appreciate the help, mine runs wicked now. Here's my setup
2010 Assault
250lb rider weight
19/41 gearing
68gr MTX weights
green/pink primary spring
Stock sec. spring
64/42/.40 helix

At 2000' I run 68 mtx's with 3gr in middle and 3gr in tip and pull 8200-8300 rpm, gonna try a little less weight to get the rpm up another 100rpm

at 6-7000' I have run 68 mtx's with 2gr in middle and in tip and was pulling 8100-8200rpm. Next time I will try 1gr in middle and in tip as well as trying the 64/40 angle on the helix.

On a side note, I now have a pcv and Jim's map. I only tried it at 2000' and noticed at least another 100rpm, but have only tried it once so far and it was in a blizzard with heavy snow. I think there is more there on a good day tho.

What is the rate of the stock polaris black primary spring? I am running a 60/40/.46 with two delrins and one slp spacer,red/black secondary spring, mtx 68 with 1 in tip and 1 in belly, and a stock primary spring. seems to work real well until 6500 feet then starts to loose rpm. Weather has been so warm in the cascades I have to believe It would run better at 20 degrees instead of 40 degrees. Any input? oh yeh 19-43 , slp single, v-force , lots of lightweight components ,-40 pounds, with 220 lb rider weight ,163 challenger extreme. I dont have the update however I do have 08 mapping with dual ring pistons, and I am using a attitude box in full fuel delete mode with fuel added back in at the midrange.

Stock sec spring is black/purple 160/240.

Sorry thought he was asking for the secondary

I hear a lot of positive. :thumb:
Does it accelerate better than stock? Does it work better for climbing or boon docking or both? Less trenching. Come on guys we want details. :face-icon-small-hap
I'm thinking about trying a variation of this setup if I ever get to ride this year. From what I'm reading I think you could be looking at the best clutch kit on the market and AK is giving it to you for free. Nice work Mike. That is true enthusiasm for the sport. And just being an all around nice guy.

Guys is this the slp blue pink if so can you tell me the rate

thanks

Green/pink vs. Blue/pink

09 d8 163 I am currently running blue/pink, 68 mtx (1 gram in the belly), 3 derlin washers, carl's helix on the 40 setting and slp single, brad's head. I am pulling 8200 down the trail and 7900-8000 on a good hill.

what will the green/pink do for me?

And any other recommendations would be appreciated.

thanks,

AKSNOWRIDER Special:
09 Dragon 800 155
Stock Gearing
6500-10,000 feet
200 lb rider weight (fully geared up)
Stock Secondary Spring with 2 Delrin Washers
SLP Green Pink Primary
SLP 68 gram MTX weights (no rivets)
60-38-.36 Helix
SLP Single Pipe and SLP Big Air Kit
8350 RPMs at around 6500 feet
8100-8250 rpms at 9-10000 feet

Sled went from feeling like riding a washing machine full of concrete to an actual mountain snowmobile again. Hopefully she stays that way. I wish I could be as helpful to other sledders as AK has been to me. Thanks again.

Monte...With the 62/42/.46 helix...it engages/hooks way better than the stock for comparison...which equals less trenching...climbs great, digs like a mule, stock 163 track & skid except Exit shock kit...boondocks great...on and off the throttle very responsive...you can feel the skid want to pop back up on the snow when you do the throttle thing. Again over all this is the best sled I have ever owned. Hope this helps. :face-icon-small-hap:face-icon-small-hap Even a couple of my Cat buddies like it:face-icon-small-coo:beer;:face-icon-small-coo

Mostly the green/pink will raise your engagement over the blue/pink. It will shift over the same on the top end, but give you a much stronger bottom end. Some guys don't like it because it is easier to trench if you don't control the throttle a little in certian situations. I run the green and love it over the blue.

That describes aksnowrider to a "T". But no need to make his head bigger than it already is. :face-icon-small-hap Thanks for all your help Mike.

So... I'm open to suggestions on getting an extra 2-300 Rpm's. Anyone??

idaho..as strange as this is gonna sound...try the 115 belt..I have had several guys say they lost rpm when running other belts..just might be what your looking for....also..with whatever belt you run..check what your belt clearence is on the primary..it should be 0.010 to 0.20 for best performance......if you still need more..try a 2 gram lighter 11 series weight and see how it does...

Hi slayer, the green pink in a nut shell just makes the sled really snappy...best champayne powder performance I have seen so far was with the blue/pink..but on harder snow especially when going slow and having to turn and go as on a steep deep climb it felt slow,lacking..not dialed..the green pink fixes that..makes the sled jump at all times...yet still goes great as far as trenching..climbing and such...I gave up 1.5 to 2 mph track speed changing to the green/pink..but the sled does these short/instant climb situations better then with the blue/pink..(this is when your not running full shift out..on a long climb both springs run the same mph..)
