Question for the internet Guru's!

I'm trying to find some information on how to go about setting up a wifi connection in a campground area. Well actually it's a cabin association, we have about 50 cabins in around a mile radius, and a handful of people want internet access.
Are there certain companies that set this up, we've got an individual that has wild blue up there, but they're bandwidth is so limited, I don't think it would work on a weekend that 6 or 10 families were up there trying to access the internet.

I'm looking specifically in Washington, White Pass area.......in the middle of nowhere really!

Do you have telephone service at the cabins? If it is a DSL line then nobody should have an issue. If you only have one actual phone line then the telephone company may be able to install one wireless transmitter and creating a "hotspot".

But if there is not a phone line provided Wild Blue is probably your best bet. If there is ample cell service then just suggest to the owners that an air card be added into their mobile plans. Also, the new smart phones can also create a hot spot but I don't know the range that could be broadcast.

PJ asks a really important question.
What is the source of your connection?

CatWoman is working at a remote campground all summer long.

We just installed a really nice CELL booster into the campground for her.

This now allows her cellurlar interface to reach out of the deep valley and establish a solid connection that is wired into her router and lets her be on SnoWest all Summer long.

Such a setup could just as easily be connected into a Wireless Router and shared for multiple users so long as everyone understands the bandwidth limitations.

As far as I know, we don't have dsl capabilities. I think there is one cabin owner with a land line up there.......so I gather satellite is our best option?

I work for a telephone company and as my job made the internet work at decent speeds in all the locations we supplied phone service to. Of the 140 remote cabinets we have, there are only 3 left that our customers receive less than 1.5 mbs download speeds and most receive 3-8 mbs. Before all the video streaming started we could put 50 customers receiving 1.5 mbs on a 3 mbs pipe now it's 7-10 mbs. I don't know what Wild Blue sends out but if all of the owner’s just want to check email and surf the web it would work. Any other stuff would be first come first gets the bandwidth. If you were lucky you could find a Hop Spot vendor who would come out, set up an antenna and go to each cabin to see if the service is available.
