Question for Dynotech Jim?

I did the TPS reset on the PCV and that got rid of my rich starts and fouled plugs, but it still doesn't feel perfect in the mid.

I would really like to hear more on this because my 08 800 started having idle and starting issues a few weeks ago. It ran great in yellowstone and ran great back here in MN for a few rides but now it won't idle and fouls plugs like crazy.

This is on a non updated motor after plugging in the PCV from Jim. Before PCV, it would fall on its face, the mag side plug would foul out permenently and the sled wouldn't start without holding it WOT and it wouldn't idle.

It will run WOT like a raped ape for about 3-4 seconds and then fall on its face like a cylinder just cuts out. I can bring it back to life by letting off the gas and then blipping the throttle repeatedly for 5-10 seconds but it just does the same thing next WOT run.

Sled is at dealer for update, tps check, oil pump calibration check and some other non-motor related issues.

Any suggestions?
Sorry for the thread-hijacking

I've have the PCV with the DTR-Stoutner map installed on my updated Assault and it made a significant difference, excellent shift out RPM @ 8100+, eliminated the midrange stumble issue completely and more top end punch.

However, I notice at RPMS 6500-7400 cruising across a lake or field the motor feels like its surging, seems like a midrange surge/pulsating. WOT is just rips.

I did the TPS reset on the PCV and that got rid of my rich starts and fouled plugs, but it still doesn't feel perfect in the mid.

Have there been any reports of this symptom?
We have been having very cold temps -10 to -20 celcius, and I was wondering if the colder temps were causing a over-rich condition in the mid if the ECU is adapting AF ratios.

I heard someone state that the ECU richens up the AF alot below 0 degrees celcius. Is this true?

Maybe I need 2 maps, one for really cold temps and another for normal temps?

That's EXACTLY what my 08 D8 is doing as well. Only diff is I was at 8150-8200, seen 8300 at times. But that has more to do with clutching than the PC5. I have the second last Polaris re flash, PC5 and Jim's map. Sent him an email about it, asking what he recommends.

2strokes_are_awesome, I haven't had any fouling issues since doing the Throttle Position calibration on the PCV.

I had been running the PCV for a couple of weeks and was still fouling plugs (3 plugs on magside) before I read a snowest post discussing the TP calibration. Before the first calibration the throttle position at idle was 1%. After I performed the calibration it showed 0% at idle. Haven't had a fouled plug in awhile "knock on wood", but I have 6 spares on my sled just in case.

After your update, get the latest PCV map from Jim, do the TP calibration and you should notice a difference.

SledAddicts, I plan on doing a sweep of the tps when I get the sled back from the dealer just to check and see for myself that its correct. Hopefully it'll get done right the first time.

Did you have any problems with the sled cutting out at WOT like I mentioned?

I am Very new to this site and these forums, but I would like to thank Dyno Jim for all of his time and hard work to try and get these d8 running good. Jim, I am a member of your web site, and was just wondering if the maps that are on your site right now are for for the current reflash, and if those programs would work with the slp high compression heads. Thank you to everyone for all of their hard work

The maps up on my site are for the first 2010 flash, and we are still playing with the maps for the 1/11 reflash which seems to make different sleds do different things. I have been emailing maps everwhere from midrange zero fuel to maps nearly as heavy on midrange fuel as the first map with good success with both depending on the sled. When we home in on the most commonly acceptable midrange map for that new flash I will put it up on my site.

WOT rips, and overall the improvements from Jims PCV maps wake the sled up.

Jim has really gone the extra mile and his maps should get most of use close enough to a perfect setup for our 800s.

Those of you running PCIII and PCV along with 800s w/ SLP pipe kits and the original 2010 flash (not the one from 1/11 or whatever...)... Have any of you continued to have the DET light come on while riding in midrange?

If I'm running the original 2010 Flash with PCV and Jim's SLP map... I shouldn't ever have the DET light come on correct? Could I just have a faulty/oversensitive sensor?
