Question about powder coating my spindles

tip for getting these damn bushings out.

Hang the ski end of the spindle over your work bench, with the bushings top/bottom

pull out your heat gun and point it at the spindle right at the base of the spindle no need to warm the bushings. The idea is to get the aluminum warm enough to expand slightly, but not generate heat into the bushings.

I leave the heat gun there for about 3 minutes doesn't even get the spindle to hot to hold with bare hands.

Now stick the spindle in your soft jaw vice and tap away. 1/4 punch worked the best IMO

They will easily tap out with very little markings to the bushing itself, using this method.

I left the rest of mine in. They look fine. Powder coater baked at 250F. As far as thermal degradation, who knows, They may crack earlier then I would want. or maybe they are just fine. 250F for any polymer just seems like a bad idea. especially since we know those bushings are not designed for any high temp use.
