Push Turbos PG turbo $2995

I just got home from Dakota Performance and checked out the sled from Pushes website as it is Jeffs, I checked it over really well and for a cheap kit it does look great but who knows how it will run, Yamaha is offering this same turbo kit but for there nitro I believe and it does not void warranty, the turbo in this kit maybe a cheaper one than the Garrett but Yamaha would not warranty a sled with a crappy turbo on it. Anyway I figured someone has to be a guinea pig so I ordered one up, every kit out there started somewhere all I can say is the proof is in the pudding not on paper. Ill keep you guys posted and maybe some of us can meet up over the winter and you could see how it runs..

What did Jeff/Dakota Perf. have to say about it?

Jeff installs OVS and Push turbos and has been in the game for many years, he has the new pump gas kit on the HCR running about 9lbs. He said it is spinning about 400 RPM (as memory serves) more than a Garrett at the same boost with the same clutching, He said he cant believe how hard it pulls at that boost. Take that as you may but if you have more R's with the same clutching same sled you should have more power. He is also going to offer a PCV as an option with the kit. As I said before Jeff also agreed that Yamaha would not use a crappy turbo on a factory sled with warranty, the turbo has been tested for thousands of miles on the yamaha with no failures as im told.

Make sure you guys do your research before you bolt on one of these knock offs, been there tried that and it didnt even make it out of the shop, wastegate wouldnt seal and that was direct from the manufacturer. That will be the last one for me. Just my .02

Not to get off on a tangent, but IMO that Yamaha Turbo/SC warrenty deal is not any different that what any good dealer would do for you. Below taken from the release statement:

While installation of this kit will not 'void' your snowmobile's warranty, specific failures determined by Yamaha to have resulted from installation of kit components or other modifications may not be covered by the Yamaha limited warranty or extended service coverage." -Official release statement.

Yamaha also let the MPI Super Charger in on the same deal. Which the MPI Super Charger doesn't exactly have a great track record according to the 4-stroke guys.

But if Dakota Performance/MMSports have been running this PUSH set up with good results GREAT! And Dakota Performance is know for great work, with a great reputation. Good Luck with your purchase and keep us posted on how it works.

Yes just a simple speedo tach rpm reading, like I said take it for what you want everyone has there opinion and that is fine.

Im not sure who makes the turbo for Push but the 16g mitsu is made overseas and is a very good turbo have run a few with great results on older Mc/KK sleds, I know the turbo used with the kits is not a $99 ebay special but I wish Ken from Push would get on here and tell us all about the turbo that is used.

Not unless they took it to Antarctica

the turbo has been tested for thousands of miles on the yamaha with no failures as im told.

That kit was being finished and tested very late last season, I seriously doubt they put thousands of miles on it.

:cheer2:
turbos kits are still overpriced at 2995.00...

I AGREE... I do alot of TIG welding and have alot to mod sled/turbo experience so I know what it takes to build the parts and I cant understand why a sled turbo costs so much when you can get a polished 8-71 blower for a v8 for half the price... R and D cost alot of money but once you have 4 or so major companies you would think the price would go down.

I had a look at the site and in my opinion the cheap kit sounds cheap, I see nothing but red flags going up. The next kit up the ladder was $4675 and it sounds much better. You get what you pay for. That knock off turbo in the cheap kit just sends shivers up my spine.

I want to Know just because its not a Garrett how is that a knock off, you must know since it sends shivers up your spine.. I guess garrett is the only one allowed to make a turbo, not saying that the turbo with the kit is the Sh!t. But its like your saying oh its a Chevy not a Ford and I drive a Ford.... I just hate when people are single minded, if everyone thought like that then nothing would ever get invented. Im not trying to get down on anyone just making a point. Ill shut up now..

Alright there knuts, let's just unbind the panties and relax. I do drive a ford and had a dodge before that. They are both great trucks and have there pros and cons. Why does my opinion of the quality of the two turbos used concern you so? Perhaps I have seen a few turbos in my time, both in and out of the sledding world, and know where I would choose to throw my money. Perhaps you should be giving crap to the other turbo builders for not using this turbo instead of the garrett, like they all do, and convince them to stop being so closed minded, those ba$tards.

Take a look at the next kit up from the G kit, 1700 bucks difference. Also read the description at the bottom of the G kit. If you can't pick out the differences than so be it. You get what you pay for. If the kit rips, it rips. If not, or it is giving people grief, well don't come crying on snowest about it.

i can understand some people are jealous and some are angry about the price but "bashing" other products in a forum without testing it before, is a very sad move.
how about ordering one of those "cheap" kits and try it on snow?

jeff/dakota is a professional, so they ordered one, they install it, they rode it in snow and they told everyone it is working,

how about other people here?

Turbo

This is a very interesting debate. Lot of good concerns and lets see if I can help.

Yes it is a cheaper turbo I ran one for a year and this is what I found. Its a sleeve turbo instead of a ball bearing and I ran it with very little oil pressure and no coolant and it lasted all year but it did get loose by the end of the year due to lack of coolant and oil but it still lasted all year and the hole turbo was cheaper to replace than the center cartridge of a Garrett.I also sent one to a buddy that is a very reputably Dealer that builds a lot of turbo's and he loved it also.So it has been tested and not just by me.
It is a smaller turbo than a 2860 now I do not know the specifics of the Ar ratios but I do know that it spins up faster and has a complete different sound than the Garrett. I have not ran it at higher boost than 8lb but think it will be good but not as good as a 2871.
I had a little to do with getting this turbo package put together and I wanted it last year but just could not get it done but I felt there was a need for a cheaper kit. It is not designed to replace the higher $$ kits it is what it is a cheaper kit. At any time if you want to replace it with a Garrett you can but I don't think you will want to.

I looked and I do not have any videos of the sled we put the turbo on but we will get some as soon as it snows.

Nice looking muffler in that kit. Anyone know where to get one like that? Been looking but haven't been able to find anything that short. Looks like it's about 8" long.

Muffler

Why don't you get get one from me. I end up taking them off when I do a tunnel dump. They are like 150.00
