Push Turbo sleds

I recently installed a push turbo on my 2010 nytro se 162, I'm curious to see how many other people are running this setup and your likes and dislikes. How is your sled running and what if any changes you've made.

I've only been out with my sled once on a shakedown run and I was only showing about 3lbs of boost, I think because of a boost leak so my clutching was way off. But from what little boost I was making it was almost instant power with no noticable lag. I've ordered a better boost gauge and a wideband to further tune it, and I'm interested in better clutching not sure which way to go with that. Anyhow just want some opinions.

120 miles

i have about 120 miles on a '10 162 at 4-7000 ft. had to turn the boost down one turn, and now the thing runs strong @ about 9 lbs. of boost, clutching is getting close, blue-pink-blue primary with stock weights (for now) loaded with 17.2 rivets and 45 helix 14.5 rollers stock sec spring. had an issue with the starter, totally fried worst one i have ever seen. had a LONG tow out. not sure of the cause. read code 46 thread. still looking for answers. have heard of 4 others doing the same thing, all rear mount turbos (not all push kits). the kit seems to be ok quality wise, seems a little cheesey on the oil lines/tank and a few other things, but seems to be working ok.

going to try a higher profile weight next like 8bu's loaded with white silver white short cap primary. next.

You could've started it with a strap on the clutch, i've done it before on the RX.

I would love to see some picture of the push kit installed. With all the problems they had delivering the kits to yamaha I'm wondering how the build quality is. The kit I saw at haydays looked like a couple of dudes in high school shop class made it.

You do realize its built with "Budget" on the mind, right?! 4k right out of the factory accessories book vs $4700ish+ for the next closest 180 kit. Yea its gona look cheaper.

I paid $3,300 including clutching for my kit, it may be lacking some of the bells and whistles of other kits but it works well for what it is. Not to mention the bonus of keeping your factory warranty.

there are other kits for 4k from Yamaha and others that look high quality and are well built. One reason I own and ride a Yamaha is because they're well built with nice fit and finish. I don't think the price should be an excuse for a poorly built kit.

CORRECT

CORRECT YOU CAN START THE SLED WITH A STRAP ON THE CLUTCH. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE STARTER SHORTED OUT, DREW THE BATTERY BELOW THE VOLTAGE NEEDED TO FIRE THE INJECTORS AND THE SLED QUIT. THEREFORE EVERY TIME I TRIED TO START THE SLED WITH THE CLUTCH THE VOLTAGE WAS NOT GREAT ENOUGH TO FIRE THE INJECTORS AND THE SLED HAD NO FUEL TO START.

AND FYI

I WOULD NOT SAY THAT THE KIT IS NOT WELL BUILT. IT WAS BUILT WITH A BUDGET IN MIND AS STATED IN AN EARLIER POST AND I THINK IT FITS THE BILL.

Yup, that is correct, also if the the battery get gets so low that it can't excite the fields, then it won't start with a strap either, but it takes very little juice to excite the fields, you could jump it through the headlight terminal from another running sled if you had to.

push

I have rode this kit and turned up to 12 it is a hoot very impresvive . I think with the 1500 snowcheck special and the new track should be a good sled. And for about 600 you can get a kit to turn it up to 12 lb.

I have about 300 miles on my push turbo kit running 7-8lbs of boost. It pulls hard and runs good. Push clutching was close and works well with some minor adjustments. The kit was easy to install and had good instructions. The oil return line provided in my kit was a little cheesy. I intalled a high temp oil return line and then added some heat tape. I haven't had a problem since. So far I'am happy with the quality and performace from my pusk kit.
