Pump Gas Turbo Fuel Question

Good point backcountry. My buddy was told by boondocker that at our riding elevation the injectors would be maxed out. I was riding my CPC stage 2 M8 this weekend at +/-6500 feet on 100% AV. I was turning my fuel pressure down, starting the day around 42-43 psi and ended up at 40 psi. My full throttle number on the attitude box is down to 5 also. My numbers on my AF were about 10.4 to start and up to 11.7 by the end of the day. I will dial it back some more next time and try to have it between 12 and 12.4 WOT. I have tons of injector left according to my AF and I ran at 9 psi all weekend. Smile from ear to ear right now:) can't wait for winter to kick into full effect!

I am not a super tuner by any means so if anyone has input on the AF numbers I provided please feel free to share, thanks.

I have a tm901 w/ boondockers pg turbo

Jared sessions advised me to run my sled at 6.5-7.5 lbs from 4k to 8k and then could increase boost to 9psi at 8k and above on pump gas, hea also advised me against running avgas in my turbo he said it is too dry of a fuel bad on motor, but i have been running avgas in mod sleds for the last 4 or 5 years with zero problems. Now i'm leary because of the this expensive 901 big bore motor plus expensive turbo, aircraft operate at less than 3000 rpm with large displacement engines, and they typically have to be overhauled after 1500 hours of use, my turbo m901 is spinning at about 8100 rpm. i plan on running 2 gallons of race per tank

are we dealing with changes in tunning? my sled is tunned for 6/8 pounds on pump but i wanna add some 100ll to be safe do i need to change any of the settings to keep it running right?

To run a pump gas turbo at 8 - 10lbs boost what is the proper fuel to use? Do I mix Race 112 with 91 octane with a 50/50 mix?

Does it all depend on the turbo kit?

Also I have heard a mix of 100LL with 91 octane can help with reaching the 8-10lbs levels.

Currently riding at 3000 - 7000ft.

Any helpful suggestions with correct fueling for these boost levels will help.

Thanks

Given that you ask about 8 - 10lbs of boost you sound like you may be looking to push the limits of a "true" pump gas kit. Might I suggest you spend the extra and go with Cutler's stage III kit. Let me just say they are wonderful and oh so much fun to ride. I can run from 7lbs on pump gas to 16 on a 50/50 mix above 8000ft. Also with Dale's kit you get his adjustable clutch weights. I set my clutches up for 12lbs and left them all year but knowing you can make an adjustment for snow or max boost conditions in under 5 minutes is priceless. Not to mention the CPC stuff is a true work of art when it comes to fit and finish. DB Good luck! :face-icon-small-win
