pulling the skid back

i have an 07 phazer and was thinking about moving the skid back a few inches to get a better aproach angle. just woundering if anybody has tried it and what the pros and cons are? ive looked though the old post trying to find some information but havent turned anything up. ive been looking on ty and havent found much either. any imput would be apreciated.

did it to my mountain cat, it'll change a bit on ur handling but deff helps in the deep. i have mine back about 4" and 2" down but i also extended my chain case 1.5" longer

Moving the skid back will transfer weight toward the nose of the sled. Think of the front shock in the rear suspension as the middle pivot point of the sled...move it back and it will not be as effective at sharing the weight with the skis. This isn't always a big deal in the deep, but when the skis are on the ground it can make the sled dart around and have heavy steering.
I have had good luck with moving the suspension back small distances- 1/2" to 1". Bigger moves than that is where you start to feel a big difference. To some riders the added nose weight is acceptable, but a lot of the time it is an unexpected side effect.
