Pulling engine, have some questions

Wow...those chains make that motor look heavy and I must be Heeman...LOL. Im a small guy and lifted mine out no troubles. I still need to learn the work smarter not harder:beer;

BTW, dont forget to pull the bottom bolts out of the recoil housing and leave them out so you can service that in the event of a broken rope. This way you wont have to pull motor loose.

Once the engine was out I picked it up and moved it no problem. It's really not heavy. But, seeing that this is the first time pulling an engine on a snowmobile, I wanted to go slow and make sure I had everything disconnected.:beer;

Those bottom bolts you speak of... how many bolts should I take out. I planned on doing this but I didn't know which ones came out.

Anyone have any recommendations on front mounts?

go with compfusions mounts they made a world of difference on clutch temps and vibration on my 05 also i not sure if the 06's have the lowest recoil bolt in the housing or not but if it does pull it out while you have the motor out and throw it away or else youll have to pull the motor again to change recoil rope. the 07 prototype 900's didnt have that bolt from the factory so it doesnt harm anything not to have it.:face-icon-small-hap

its just the very most bottom bolt.. just 1.

The ones on there were Compfusion. They were the rubber ones though. I'm waiting to hear back from Compfusion about just buying the urethane inserts. Anyone have any experience with the SLP race mounts?

What's with all these broken/cracked front cross member's this year??

I guess now we "SEE" why the 900 didn't make it to the RAW chassis.

I have a couple questions for all. I have my new crossmember, new mounts... now I am going to bolt the crossmember/ mounts to the block and I can't find the torque spec. Does anybody know the torque spec for the 2 bolts that go into the block? Also, the torque spec for the 4 bolts that bolt the crossmember to the frame. Thanks.

the bolts that go INTO the block are 40ft lbs..with locktite..both front mounts AND rear mounts

the cross member bolts (4 of them), i believe Compfusion said around 24 ft lbs...with locktite as well...

Another question. I went to install my intake boots and I noticed that they are different from the old ones. They don't fit and I might have to modify them. Did I get the wrong ones?

i assume the "old" one is on the left in the pic..and the "new" one is on the right?

do you have V-force3 reeds installed right now..i have never seen how the boot need trimmed for the VF3 reeds, but i think thats whats going on there..

the ones on the right are the right ones for sure...that lip goes inside making a nice seal..

if you have VF3 reeds..i honestly "IF IT WERE ME" would use stock reeds/pedals...

not sure if that helps or not..but like i said..i run stock reeds and my boots are like the ones on the right side in the pics..

good luck

Yeah, I have V-Force reeds. The old one is on the left. I don't have any stock ones. Are there special boots I should have gotten to go with the V-Force reeds?

No it is the same stock throttle body boots...but u have to mod them to fit the VF3 reeds. So either u have to cut up the stock boots to fit or get stock reeds...i would get the stock reeds if it were me.

Hey guys, I can't for the life of me remember where the feed line off of the oil resevoir connects to. I got the one connect that's half way up the resevoir. That one came from the PTO side, around the side of the engine, to behind the engine to the resevoir right? But, where does the one coming of of the bottom of the resevoir go to? Thanks.

to the oil pump below the throttle bodies. It wraps around the PTO side and comes back towards the center and goes to the pump right next to the pump arm

I'll try and find a picture

I was able to connect that one. But what about the one that comes off of the resevoir near the bottom. Does it connect to the MAG side somewhere?

unless the 06 is different I only had two lines from the bottle. The middle line to the cases and the small one to the pump.
