PSI Genesis Engine

I have a PSI Genesis engine that I bought in an 02 ZR chassis. I bought it for some other parts, but don't need the engine. I just did a comp check, 135/136 on my low reading gauge. I fired it up, but the carbs will need cleaned, as it has been sitting. I was told that it was a 990, but I think he meant 890? I am sure one of you fine Snowesters will know. It is based on a Poo bottom end. It runs on 110, and has not been run a lot. I am willing to sell it as a bare motor, with electronics, with pipes, carbs, whatever. I would just like it gone, I decided to buy a new toy and feel a little guilty about buying this one, lol.

Pull one of the spark plugs and measure the travel of the piston.
If it measures 68mm from tdc to bdc its an 890.
If its 76mm its a 990. Assuming it has a 91mm bore. If the bore is 88 with the 76 stroke its a 925.

I was told by someone else who used to have one and looked at it that it was a 990. Thanks, I will double check measurements before shipping/selling though.

Wow, tons of interest on this. It is a 990. If someone wants a price quote, please tell me how you want it, electronics, pipes, carbs, reeds, whatever. I can't price something if I don't know what it is I am pricing.

I will try to make this easier on folks. If I have quoted you a different price via email that what I have posted here, figure the lower one.

Engine, bare with heads, cyls, bottom, crank. Nothing else - $1000
Add Vforce reeds - $125
Add mag/pickup/flywheel - $150
Add recoil - $40
Add cdi - $100
Add pipes - $200 (one has a dent in the front, should probably be pulled out)
Add carbs (they are Keihins) - $100
Prices don't include shipping.
Make an offer on everything, or mix and match, let me know.

I pm'ed you last night give me a call 775-304-2299 or give me your number and i will call you interested in the motor but have some questions for you

76mm stroke.
I get terrible phone reception here at the house, and am leaving at 5am for a long weekend. You can try calling if you want, more than likely won't be able to get through.

is it a 91 bore and if it is would you take 800 for just the engine and if you will take the offer you can send a request for money at my paypal to b wilkinson @ bw fabrication . com or PM me yours and I will get you paid

I am 99% it is a 990, so whatever bore that is. I will verify before I ship by popping the head off for measurements to be sure.
I have had emails telling me I have priced it too low, and have a ton of emails about the engine, so I will stay with $1000 for now for the bare engine.

...

it's a 990 based on 920 or 890 kit, stock cases...
First, your crankcases are not PSI, it's Polaris stock crankcase..
The distance between 2 sparkplugs is 138mm on stock Polaris cases.
150 mm on PSI cases..
Second, the cylinders are a 890 or 920 kit with 91mm pistons and we can see a wedge under cylinder for the stroker crank...
This is my opinion...
if the engine is ready, it's a good deal!!

Thanks. :)
Whatever it is, it is for sale and I want to move it. Sorry I haven't been around, took a long weekend with the family and without internet.
Will wait a couple more days, then Ebay it.
Chris

I would agree...it looks like a Polaris OEM case. NOT PSI's polaris-based case. One big clue is the coolant bypass under the header pipes. PSI doesn't run those on their Pol based case.

Sooooo, it WON'T be a 990, if I am not mistaken. More likely a 890...

What's the stroke?

As Tater said...Did you pull the plug and set a measuring stick on top the piston and turn over the primary clutch a complete cycle? Measure how far the stick travels up and down in a full cycle. That's your stroke...That will tell us what it is.

If it's ready to run, it IS a good deal though.

I guess I misposted originally, I know it is a Polaris bottom on it, not a PSI one. It is also currently in an Arctic Cat. :)
Thanks for the help guys.
Chris

I am headed to my shop shortly, I will pull the head and measure the bore so I know what I am selling, lol.
Chris

76mm stroke, 91mm bore. 990. I popped the head, it looks just about spotless. The cyls have very (and I mean very) light smudges, cannot even feel them with a finger or fingernail. I took pics but forgot camera at shop, headed back anyway, will post later tonight.
