Proper belt deflection on my 2013 1100T forces belt too low into secondary

After blowing numerous belts last year i tore the clutches apart and hear is what i found. First thing bushings in secondary were worn out of round replaced those. Started this year with the new bushings and still had too much belt heat. Rechecked offset and machined to 13 specs still to hot. Purchased new 082 belt and Carlisle 822 now tested those. Found out i could not shim to get the deflection i prefer on the 822 it was on the loose side but the belt heat was waaay less could wrap hand around belt and it would not burn. Now i did have to adlust my clutch set up a bit but it kinda proves that it appears these belts from AC seem to be on the short side. For the record during testing i was in approx three feet fresh sidehilling, tree hillclimbing, boondocking and point and shoot climbs. If anyone else is experimenting please lets keep this going as the answers will become evident.

I was looking at a ultimax 144-4640u4. It is 47.125 and 1.484" wide. Seems as though it would be a fair combination of added length and approximate same width. I think the xs822 is 47.5 long or so. And it sounds like it is slightly hard to get the right deflection. The 144-4640u4 is only about $70. Should be good for a try. Also I did not have. Issues with blowing belts last year I just would like my belt to run cooler as it seems that the clutches get glazed awfully fast likely from heat. Also at full shift if the stock belt is slightly to short it is going to be extra. Hard on all components.

Destroyed a belt tonight. . . . I am confident that it snapped because the clutches went to full shift and it either slipped at the bottom against the helix or because the belt was not able to shift anymore and it was to short. I did run this belt for 200 miles last season. I have a bit more power this year though. . . LOL. I think a longer belt is in my future.

All I can do is LOL. Not mad just the way it goes I guess. haha

Belt Options for the M1100 Turbo

I have seen new 0627-082 Belts that will not work on specific M1100Ts. The combination of a specific snowmobile and belt on the maximum short side of Arctic Cat spec will creep even with all deflection washers removed.

I have measured a sled with C to C at 11.5 and a very short 0627-082 belt we were not able to use this belt on the sled.

My stock is low on 082 belts but I have measured 5 and have not found one to be 46.259" they are all short but within "Cat Spec". Will have a new batch tomorrow and will see if any of them are longer. IMO many of the current 082 belts are indeed too short and being pulled in half for a variety of reasons.

I have measured several 084 belts and they are all on the long side of "Cat Spec".

I have fitted an 084 on a sled and it takes all the deflection washer you can get in there and still get the O-ring on the cap. IMO it is not a viable option I think it is too long.

I have an XS823 and it is as short as my shortest 082 and an XS822 which is longer than all my 084s.

The belt called out for the M1100 NA model is a 0627-081 Cat says it is 46.378 so slightly longer than the 082. I don't know why because the C to C on the sleds is the same.

We also have 0627-048. The spec on this belt is 46.986..I measured one today and it is...yes shorter than that. I think this belt could be a very good fit if holds up to the heat and HP of a mod M1100T.

I am thinking a happy medium is what we need. The spec of the cat 084 is about 1.250 longer than the 082. That is alot to take up. Middle of the rode maybe would be a belt that specs at maybe right at or close to 47"?

I will be testing the 0627-048 which is 46.986 (spec) on Sunday. Can't get up any sooner than that.

Good post Woody. Thanks for the information. I agree that a happy medium is a belt around 47". My C to C measured at 11.6" so a "short" stock belt will not work. Other s are finding their C to C to be long as well. Gates makes a belt that specs at 46.5" but may be just slightly longer real world. I will be ordering up to test. I also run an Ultimax Pro but can't remember the number right now.

This is the gates 48g4553 have it in my hands.
1.496 wide on the calipers. Too wide for even shimming I believe.
Length is 463/4".

There are a few options, but we need to know the actual measurements. Many do not come in exactly as specified. Some shorter than spec, some longer. Going to take some investment and time.

048 might be worth a shot. I also like the Gates G-Force 43G4553. Godd spec, but I do not know what it actually measures out at.

You guys noticing this belt problem more on the 2013's then 2012's? I had no problem last year with my 2012 but adding a BC kit got me a little nervous if I'm going to be snapping belts.

I also have this belt and will be trying it next week depending on Woody's findings and how my original holds up.

I have been test fitting and setting deflection with several belts tonight. The 0627-048 fits the sled the best. We will see on Sunday how it works. I also fitted an XS823 and even though it measured as short as my 082s it fit nicely (real low in the secondary of course) with no deflection washers and actually has some belt to sheave clearance in the primary...none of the Cat belts do. Testing this one on Sunday too.

I fit the XS822 and think all the 800 belts are too long to be the answer.

Hey guys being having belt rip in half also, 082 belt. Have been running a rmk pro belt for 110 miles so far and no belt issue so far. Wasonly getting about 30 m with the 082. Clutching is a bit sluggish in low rmp, and when taking off it is not so smooth, kind of lurching. But runs good under power, got any ideas to help with that. Mds 91g, 36/42 helix stock spring. td tune. 2000/4500 feet. Thanx

I would say it sounds like the pro rmi is slightly to long. Did u adjust the deflection to have it just barely creep at idle? If you can't get the deflection to creep mode the belt is just to long.

My deflection is sent how cat saids to have it , when I have a tight belt, track just creeping I have belt issue. I'm stumped.

With the prormk belt?

Is that belt by chance quite a bit narrower or wider than the 082

Haven't had it on the snow yet, but here are pics for those wondering what all this looks like. I think the xs822 will be a tad too long. Had to put a bunch of spacers in to get the deflection close. No room left when the belt wears alittle.

Turbo11t, the rmk pro belt is a bit wider then the 082, when I first put it on the seld would try and move when ideling, after 30 miles its good. Next ride I'll tighten up the deflection just a bit and see what happens
