We have a 2600 square foot house and a wood stove in the far end of a two story. We always run the wood as a supplement heat but this year we added on and had not hooked up all the propane lines until November. We were forced to use the wood stove as primary heat for a while. Now I have pushed it and my family to the limit. We have yet to turn furnace on Dec 4th, low last night was 18. Temp in house in furtherst room was 59. Worst morning was when I slept all night and didnt feed the fire. Temp was 52, family was NOT happy with my tight azz attitude that day
It has made me realize how hard it is to keep heating with wood as primary source. You have to be up at all hours of the night to keep her rolling. You guys using heat like this, kudos to you. For me the furnace is coming on tonight!

of my englander tonight. I heat mostly with wood and leave my gas furnace set on 50. Most nights I wake up to stoke the fire, unless I down a few to many stones. The furnace keeps it at 50 but that is morning wood shrinker when you roll out of bed in your shorts.
