Production is ending............

Something is not right here. Suzuki was only shut down 2 days, March 15th and 16th, due to the tsunami. So, Cat has decided to only build the Snow Checks and screw everyone else? What about dealer orders that were placed? I have money on one of these.

Suzuki was shut down for more than two days and there still going through power rationing. Get your facts straight.

be frustrated but you guys gotta remember suzuki, mainly located in Japan got bashed by a massive Tsunami this year...and cat didnt anticipate this much success in their forecast. by the time they realized it there was no chance for a battered country to pick itself back up and catch up with the mass quantity of orders. stopped by my dealer last night and he said they were actually told they couldnt order any more in the spring becasue the demand was too much to handle

Bla bla bla...I place the blame on Cat for not having a contingincy plan. They took my money 9 months ago. WTF have they been doing for the last 9 months...Can't tell me they could not have figured something out....At very least they could have at least been up front with everybody letting them know what was going on....I wan't the ceo's head that makes the decisions....What a Sissorbill.....

Ummm....actually the aren't rationing power. They did start back production on the 17th, although limited. There WAS power rationing, but not from early summer on. Nuclear power only accounts for 29% of power in Japan. Right now, 39 of 54 reactors are down. They will have power problems in 2012 as all of the reactors will be shut down for maintenence. Production has been running at a 17% decrease. I could be wrong, but this is what I have read.

Mind posting your source?

Suzuki plants suspended due to earthquake in Japan (Report #2)
Suzuki Motor Corporation expresses heartfelt sympathy to those affected by the earthquake in Japan.
Suzuki will continuously suspend production at all plants until 21 March. The operation after 22 will be decided after we assess the situation.
Takatsuka Plant Motorcycle engines assembling and machining
Kosai Plant Passenger car assembling
Iwata Plant Multi-purpose vehicle and commercial vehicle assembling
Toyokawa Plant Motorcycles and outboard motor assembling
Sagara Plant Passenger car assembling and Automobile engines assembling
Osuka Plant Foundry

The situation will be worst for those companies that rely specifically on nuclear power, generated, for instance, by the Hamaoka nuclear plant in central Japan. The utility that operates that plant agreed in May of this year to shut it down at the Japanese government’s request. The problem is that significant portions of Japan’s automotive industry, such as Toyota, Honda, and Suzuki, rely on that specific plant for power. While the power could eventually be replaced, the slow process will increase costs. Japan’s cars will cost more, making them less competitive.
Kansai Electric warns of power shortages this winter
NATIONAL SEP. 14, 2011 - 06:00AM JST ( 13 )
OSAKA —
The president of the Kansai Economic Federation and chairman of Kansai Electric Power Co, Shosuke Mori, says that Japan may face a power shortage this winter.
“If the nuclear reactors are not restarted, this winter is likely to be even tougher than the summer was,” he told Kansai Economic
Federation meeting attendees, Jiji reported. He went on to say, “We are going to have to request power-saving measures, including changes to industrial manufacturing processes.” Mori said Kansai Electric would inform authorities of the details “as soon as possible.”
Of Kansai Electric’s 11 nuclear power plants, seven are currently not in operation. Before the end of the year, another three are to be
halted for routine maintenance and checks.
The details of the likely power-saving plan are still under discussion and are expected to be decided after Sept 22, when the summer plan comes to an end. Jiji also reported that Kansai Electric is looking into the possibility of “lending electricity” to other power companies this winter.

According to the cat rep I talked to at my dealer he said they are short due to the power rationing and that all snow checks will be filled but very few or no extras. He said they lost 70 some of the turbos in Wyoming but that most of them were supposed to go to places to be rentals.

Key word here is MAY, which idicates no power rationing was in effect. Your exact qoute was they were/are on power rationing. As you stated-get your facts straight.

If they started production back up on the 21st of March, then they were down for 10 days and I was wrong.

There is still no concrete evidence the delay in M1100T production is due to lack of engines. So far, all of the rest of the lineup has been produced. They all have Suzuki engines. So, until Cat actually states production was halted due to lack of engines, then it is simply specualtion.

I do not think your rep was on the level. I live in Jackson, where probably 90% of the rentals in Wyoming occur and no one is planning on renting M1100T's.

Boy you are thick, I sorry you don't know how to use Google.
I'm also sorry I did not bookmark all the articles I have read. But since I have already proven you don't know what your talking about.
I will go sit in my corner and repeat "I will not argue with idiots, I will not argue with idiots"

Hmmmm.......I would think the definition of thick is someone who makes a statement and then knowingly posts an article that actually proves themselves wrong.

I think I will go in a corner and repeat "I don't need to argue with someone who is actually dumb enough to prove themselves wrong and is so arrogant they can not admit it".

But, I tell you what, you are absolutly right and I am wrong. I do not feel the need to resort to name calling when trying to have a discussion about the delay in M1100t production. I just want my sled. So, you are right, production is being ended due to a lack of M1100T engines due to the Tsunami in Japan that affected Suzuki production. I find any further arguing counterproductive at this point. Feel free to come back with some more I am "thick" or "retarded" or whatever. You are actually the one that started the insulting, so please, continue. Don't worry, free shot, I won't reply.

Now, for something actually constructive, my sled is a sled the dealership ordered for the floor, not a snow check. I put money on it about a month ago. He did check cat tracker today and it is still slated to be shipped on Dec 8th. So, there is still hope that most, if not all, will get out eventually. :)

Probably not 90% but ya I'm sure alot of the rentals are there. And I'm just passing on what I was told. So nobody on togwotee is planning to rent them either, or are you meaning just in town in Jackson? Thanks

In Jackson, really only two or three places rent sleds that don't go on a tour. Leisure Sports rents Doos and the guy on the other side of town does rent cats, but only 800's and I do not think he was getting new ones this year.

Togwotee has traditional rented Cat, Doo and some Poos, but only 800's. I doubt that that anyone will rent M1100T's simply becuase of the purchase price. They are expensive and it would cost alot to buy them. For example, Liesure Sports gets new Doo 800's every year, but only carbureted. He won't throw down for the Etecs becuase of the cost.

I know alot of guys up at Togwotee and will ask them what they are getting this year. I will say, the typically have over 100 rental sleds or even more. They might get a few M1100T's, but I doubt it.

All the tour companies have mild 4 stroke touring sleds to meet the PPark regs. Most have Doos and Poos. Rocky Mountain has a few Z1's but no turbos.

I know most the company owners and will check around and see who is getting what. Kinda interested to see if any are getting, or were getting, M1100T's.

It seems odd if the production line goes idle when..

there's still a demand for sleds. I guess they have to place their order with Suzuki a long time in advance. Or maybe they need the snowmobile assembly line for the Wildcat, which will be starting now. I know they have a separate line for wheelers but maybe something is changing.

Just called my dealer....My sled showed up this morning. They are setting it up right now. Guess I know what I am doing this weekend. Go pick it up and put a few break in miles on her...Oh I can't wait...

Congrats. . . You will find out it was worth the wait the torque is just short of amazing.

What did Cat think was going to happen when they put this engine in mountain and crossover chassis?????? They knew the numbers in March. Its ridiculous.

I know the Yamaha numbers aren't going to be what Cat's numbers are. Bottom line its ridiculous that sleds snowchecked in Mar still haven't been built in Dec. And its even more ridiculous that some dealers dont let their customers know what is going on. :faint:
