Team Lugs Racing just got back from a quick trip upto the Snowies! 50 inches of fresh powder! Team lugs does a lot back country technical riding in Southeast WY. This year we had some new gear with us. Follow our Facebook Page or YouTube Channel for more detailed reviews and cool Snowmoblie / Jetski videos.
This year we were very concerned with avalanches up in the Snowy Mountain Range in Southeast WY due to the layer of ice underneath all that nice new snow. So we reached out to BCA looking for some gear. This last weekend we rode with both the 22 Throttle and 25 Turbo Float Airbag packs.
After one weekend of riding, we were very pleased with the packs. I really like the quote from "Throttle Decisions" : If you willing to spend thousands on that new sled, why question a couple hundred for your safety.
The 22 Throttle is perfect for the guy that hates wearing a pack when riding. It's the most affordable in the line of avalanche bags. The pack is small and lightweight and won't hinder your riding style. With a full cylinder the pack weighs 6 pounds and measures (19" H x 10" W x 5" D) and made with 330 double ripstop nylon and 840 ballistic nylon. You can easily carry all of your avalanche gear (airbag, probes, shovel), small snack and an extra set of goggles. However, thats really about all the pack will allow. The lever to activate the airbag is located on right strap and is permanently mounted.
If you're looking to carry a little more and don't mind wearing weight (bag weighs 7 lbs + load), 25 Turbo is a good size pack for a day ride. Features panel access, zippered tool compartment, lined goggle pocket, hip belt pockets, load lifters, left or right shoulder strap trigger mount, height adjustable trigger, fixed leg strap, daisy chain, hydration sleeve, and compatible with snowboard carry attachment.
If your interested in one of these packs and would like to see one up close please contact us. In the Snowies (Centennial, Wy) you can find us at the Beartree or Omaha/Lincoln area PM me.
