Proclimb, M1200, knock sensors, vipec?!

Hey guys. Started ordering parts and stuff for my linderman 1200 swap into my proclimb chassis, sitting here thinking about different ideas. I know how finicky 1000 engines are, I was wondering if anyone has machined an m1 head to cooperate a knock sensor?! I'm going to be using a vipec ecu, is this something that's possible? Just want to make this sled as reliable as possible, but perform to the fullest. Who's the best guy on here to talk to about vipec ecus and custom tuning on cats?

What are you trying to do? m1000 have always come with a knock sensor. You trying to add another knock sensor to go to the vipec?

Some modded engines set off the knock through the mid so they end up attached to the steering hoop .
Might want someone to dyno tune that 1200. Pretty sure a vipec is a fair bit to get everything dialed.

I was under the impression that the m1000 didn't have a knock sensor any year that it was produced. Thought it was only a HO 800 feature.

1000's did NOT come with a knock sensor. I'm just wondering if adding one would benefit me reliability wise in my build. Becuase once the kinks are worked out I plan on adding a supercharger, and if a knock sensor would help keeping my motor from grenading it would be pretty cool. And yeah I do plan on getting the sled dyno tuned once it's built, that's why I need to talk to someone who's tuned cats before, preferably someone in canada.

the knock sensor hole is already in the head. from my understanding cat could not get the m1 to work with the knock sensor something about it was to radical with harmonics. if the guys can tune a boosted m1 and make it live without it well someone should have an idea on how to do it.

I'm gonna talk to the vipec guys, see how well these 1000's can be tuned with vipec, and if a knock sensor would benefit or not. This is just a wild idea I had last night.

Supercharger ! Well I think SW invested ALOT of time to dial in the stock 800.
If you want something big and wild maybe , as said, 1200 turbos have been done. Just saying as it might save you some time.

I have loads of time. This is my project sled, not my main sled. I have a boondocker pro to ride, I just want this to tinker with, and if I get it working Id sell the pro.

I know they spent a lot of time tuning, turbos and superchargers and worlds different, in my opinion anyways. That's why I need to talk to vipec themselves to see if this is something they think is possible. Right now I just want them to tune a 1200 naturally aspirated, don't think that's too complicated, but I do plan on adding boost, so if it's something they can't tune then I may as well go with the boondocker box and save myself the money.

Following this thread. It's something I've wanted to do for a while now. The 925 works good but there's something about a 1200 that is just screaming my name haha. My understanding with the knock sensor is the same as what Kiliki said.

I'm waitin to hear back from vi-pec power sports on snowest, asked him everything I need to. If you want help with swapping a 1000 into your proclimb pm me.

Thanks! The little I've looked into it it doesn't seem too difficult. I think the biggest thing that's holding me back is the extra weight on the front of the sled. I used to own an m1 and I could feel a huge difference between the 800 and the 1k.

An m1000 engine is only 10 lbs heavier then an 800. I'm doing oil delete, belt drive, Bdx track shaft, rotor, recoil, gas tank, rear arms and a arms, carbon hood, full exhaust, billet clutch cover, and some other goodies. Basically my version of a prolite. I don't think im gonna notice the weight lol. You can shave a lot of weight off the front ends of these sleds you can make up for the 10lbs difference in engines.

There definitely is a lot of weight to be lost. It could of been the suspension setup between the sleds. Sounds like you got a good build going. I'll be watching it closely

Just a question...when you have fitted the motor...would the motor work properly if you just replaced the ecu with the M1000 ecu or do you need to replace the whole harness?
Are you gonna run APV or delete those to?

I`m thinkin about doing the same kind of build..not exactly but 1000 motor in PC chassie...fully ported and with single...Maybe a modified Jaws 925BB pipe would work?

Are you done with the TCL and motorplate?

contact brytcer

he is knowledgeable on the VIPEC's also.

x4 m1000's have never had DET sensors, run some EGT's- the m1000 motor loves Fuel, keep it Fat below 1100 on the temps- should have no problems.
Dale Cutler would be a good source to tap also.
