Just got married and my wife's dad is talking crap about how his 96xlt 600 triple can outrun my 800rev.... I keep trying to get him to go up but he won't.. He came over today and started bashing my chevys and my Doo... WTF... Does anyone have this problems too? I am about ready to kick his old butt..
i'm guessing before you got married you asked someone, best friend or whatever, if you should get married. i'm guessing he said yes and to this day you think about putting a dent in his forehead.
Why don't you ask him to just stop talkin' chit? Be a man, stand up for yourself and tell him what for - don't go cryin' to your wife about it either. You don't need to be an a$$hat either. Just say, "Hey - I don't appreciate you talking trash about my stuff all the time. I don't treat you and your things with disrespect, so don't treat me and my things that way." If he get's lippy, and doesn't like you respectfully asserting yourself, stop inviting him over and tell your wife you don't appreciate spending time with someone who treats you like they are superior. I don't particularly enjoy my in-laws, so i just limit my time with them. My wife understands as she now see's them with a new perspective and is sadly not enjoying them much either. People don't like spending time with rude people, whether they are family or not.

Whats wrong with a little ribbing. The dude likes ya. Seriously, if he really didnt like you he wouldnt even talk to you.
Just play ball man. Have a little fun with it. Dish it back. Just as fast as it gets dealt. Don't take any of it personal. He's not meaning any harm by it trust me.
I dated a gal who's dad and grandpa were the exact same way. I took it personally at first, but i quickly realized what the deal was. Just play ball back. After I started doing that, the respect came. Its just a pecking order thing. As dumb as that sounds.
All this talk of divorce (even if its just joking around) and talking about your wife to her dad in the sack???? c'mon guys...... Put yourself in his (her dad)shoes. Some times the smack gets old, but dont do anything your going to regret. He is family after all.
