pro vs dragon?

the Pro will do circles around the dragon ! the dragon does what the pro does,But it takes way more rider effort to do the same things. would not buy a dragon again. But I would buy
another pro!

I agree with Mike but will take it further. The Pro will totally kick the dragons butt all over the mountain. The Pro is unbelievable, I giggle like a school girl every time I ride it and ride circles around every NA sled out there. I had an 09 Dragon 163, which was nice but.....I was about even with my buddies xcr edge mod, now with the pro, I totally kick its @ss. There where some hills that I let him hammer on for a while then I would hit it and beat his mark by twice the height! This thing somehow just stays on top and keeps climbing, it is amazing. I could go on and on...........:face-icon-small-hap

PRO = lighter, less effort to ride, better balanced, better ergonomics ....

I drag raced my stock PRO with premix still in the tank against my buddy on an 08 Dragon with a SLP pipe a can, over an over the PRO spanked the dragon... no comparison. He said he thinks the PRO is a 30-40% impovement over the Dragon.

The big difference for me was three things.

One the weight is so much lighter on the Pro and makes a difference getting up on the snow, getting unstuck, going up the hill and staying unstuck. The transfer in the rear skid works so much better that the 5.1 track is more at home on the Pro than on the IQ. This with the weight mean that the Pro stays on top of the snow. The other item that makes the sled great is the narrow chassis. When sidehilling the Pro doesn't kick itself off of the sidehill like the IQ does. It has a natural balance and sticks to the hill. Easy to pull over and easy to balance. Great sled.

Yep.

What convinced me to buy a pro was seeing the trench my 09 163 dragon was making on a hill, and my buddies pro 155 was about half as deep of trench, and he wasn't getting stuck! As I would loose momemtum with the dragon, I couldn't get turned out quick enough to not get stuck. I'm sure a drop and roll and Timbersled rear skid would help the dragon alot, but that's over 2k worth of mods. So I paid 5k and traded it in.

Ditto to above.
I have the PRo 155 and an 08 Dragon 700/155 with BMP pipe,SLP can,PC5, Clicker fronts and Holz/Fox rear. Both are capable sleds, the Pro just moreso.
Tried the two side by side this weekend. The Pro definitely climbs better, sidehills better and pulls harder until 60. The Dragon has smoother pull and leaves the Pro behind at just over 80. And while both have the 5.1 track, the paddles on the Pro are much stiffer than the 08 Dragon, which I just this year clipped per F-Bomb mod. Both sleds spin about 58mph track at in deep powder at 2500 feet.

A couple other things about the Pro Ride.

The motor is so much better than the CFI4. It has a much better mid range punch although the top is no better. This translates to excellent continous power. My D8 (setup well) would not have a chance at big hills if I couldn't get the power up over 8,000 RPM's. The Pro will dip but you don't notice it as much because the mid range holds well.

Turning is also tighter on the Pro. Probably a little more rider forward and the steering works better. I still get push when on hard pack but what counts is that the Grippers work in the fluff.

I think the D8 is an awesome sled when setup. It needs clutching, fuel management, suspension changes in front and back and a Camo Extreme track. The Pro is setup out of the box. Clutching is on. I've experimented with the clutching and I keep going back to stock. I would buy another D8 for the right price. Still wish I had mine for my girlfriend and backup.

To clarify my earlier comments.

I cut down the 08 dragon track per the F-Bomb mod. The paddles on it were much more flexible than the new Pro track. With only one day comparing, I can not yet recommend it for the Pro, as my Pro track is so much stiffer than the 08's. I saw the Pro do things yesterday that I couldn't believe if I hadn't seen them. There is no sign of the paddles rolling over too easy. As I noted, my Pro track is at least 2-4 times stiffer on the tip than my 08. Do I think the cut on my 08 works better, yes. Am I going to do the same to the pro- Not yet. Besides, I like the peersonalities.

Love my Pro!!

I go back and forth to the Dragon and the Pro to compare, I thought the IQ was the way but not no more!! I can do things with the Pro that are harder to do on the Dragon, like go up steep and deep without wondering all over to get to the top, cut side hills like nobody's business, park on a side hill to unstick my son who is riding my old D7, it is just flat fun. I only weigh 160 and have the 163. I was worried that the longer track would be to much to handle but that is not the case. I would have never thought a machine like this would exist, especially since my very first sled was a 1968 AC Panther, go all of 30 MPH. Just can't get enough seat time!!:face-icon-small-coo:D

the pro out does the dragon at just about everything. BUT, the dragon isn't that bad? You can do everything you could do on the dragon just easier and better. It's kinda like the diference between a gen II and an edge.

good comments

I have an 08 Dragon (700)pretty tricked out and it doesnt hold a candle to my Pro. It is not about power but how the power gets to the snow. I can do things on the Pro that only got me in trouble on the Dragon. I can take a sidehill and hold it or go up an turn around and go the other way and I love it when I get off the ground. No tail draggin just flies nice and level. I am much more a part of this sled when I ride. More energy left at the end of the day!! If I can get my bog at high RPM solved I could love it. Love jumpin and carving on this thing.

wish I could change to WYO PRO but somebody beat me to it

i know what you mean, i'm stuck with snopro since my cat days! well i still have a doo and cat, and pro in the garage, but hey you can't know what you are talking about until you ride them all (not just a test ride)

The difference between a Gen II and a D7 was really big. That Gen II would wear me out big time trying to keep it up on one ski. :face-icon-small-sho

yea.... i said gen II vs edge, not gen II vs IQ raw chassis.

Honesetly, i would have been content wiht my dragon. But it had a fuel rail leak and cought on fire... so i was forced to get a pro. Not saying i regret my decision, jsut saying that the dragon isn't that bad. Still is a better chassis IMO than doo and cat.

I don't feal as though the pro has maid me a better rider. The best parts about the pro for me are it's jumping manors, suspension, and how easy it is to predict what kind of english you need to give it to get the job done. Also, the skinney body doesn't get cought up in the thick trees near as much. Those are my faverite things about the chassis.
