PRO steering post bushings

I have just about 1000 miles on my 12 PRO, it's been a great sled. I was going over it before putting it away for the summer and noticed some play in the steering post. I didn't think much of it until I got another 12 PRO in the shop for clutch cleaning and prep for storage when I noticed how tight that sleds steering was compared to mine. The other sled only has 250 miles on it, so that's part of the difference.

I took apart the bushings, there is an upper set and a lower set and they are dry.. no grease. I know they should have been greased at the factory, but I'm wondering if that's the issue or the fact that I did a LOT of side hilling this season and maybe they will just wear more than older bushings with a grease zerk.

Anyone one noticed this issue? Am I just to picky? LOL

I've noticed a difference on 4 different pro's. All similar miles and some were tight, some were sloppy.

Skill level of riders plays a huge part and Iam sure dry bushings is also a factor.

I'll be keeping a eye out to see the remedy!

Anyone make billet aluminum/ oilite replacement steering blocks for Polaris, like OFT Racing makes for Yamaha sleds? They really really help.

I broke one of mine sidehilling last year! Was quite a ride. As cheap as they are i bought four of them and keep spares in the trailer.

I have a 11 and a 12 pro, and I noticed substantial difference between the play in the steering post of the two. My 12 brand new had 1/4" slop where my 11 with 1000 miles was still tight as a drum. At the end of this season my 12 has the same amount of slop. This fall I will take the bushings apart an grease them with some lithium grease. Hopefully that will help...

theres alittle bit of differance between a 30 lb bycycle with an 80 lb nerd at 3 MPH, and a 500lb sled with a 200 lb man on it WFO, there slapnutz, i explained it for ya

Why do you care what bushing Polaris uses, since you think your Doo is all that?

Is there so little to talk about in the Doo forum, that you have to stink up the PRO forum? You seem to think you're amusing, but you are simply embarrassing your self.

all brands have slop OS.i thought you might want to discuss a fix.

If you ever had anything intelligent to add to ANY discussion then you wouldn’t be getting this kind of common reaction to your posts. Don’t even try to insinuate that you started posting in response to this thread because you were interested in stimulating a discussion about a possible solution. We both know you think you’re funny and that your posts are witty... think again.
