pro rmk 155 rpm issue

I used the data recorder on my pro this weekend and noticed that I am only getting 7200 rpm's max on my pro rmk. It is a 2011 that has 1350 miles on it. I am running the stock 62gram weights. I also have the power addiction head. I am at 8-11k feet.
Any ideas on what this could be?

What happens exactly that it will only tach at 7200 .

Could be a lot of issues. You need to start with telling us what you have already eliminated so we aren't shooting in the dark here. At 1300 miles its very possible your primary clutch needs some maintenance if you haven't touched it yet. If you have the original primary spring 1300 miles is a lot on the original spring. Also I think 62 gram 10 series are recommended for 6-8k ft so you might be a little heavy but not enough to drop you down to 7200. A better description of how its acting would help diagnose the problem too :)

Assuming you have done all the routine maintenance on time, clean power valves, go through clutches, belt, springs ect. Then maybe you should look at the TPS testing thread that AKSNOWRIDER posted the other day(link below). That could be a possible culprit.

Let us know what you figure out as you eliminate possible causes.

Head

I put the head on in the beginning of the year.
I don't think its the head. Motor feels great. Think its the clutch.

Primaries can wear out really fast if you are rough on them. I only make a few pulls on my sled and let her cool down, but a buddy of mine only gets 800-1000 miles fore he cracks rollers ect because he just bangs on the hills non-stop for 20-30 minutes straight and doesn't let it cool down at all. Also remember to blow your clutch out with compressed air after every ride to get all that belt dust out of there. It will help extend the life of your clutch.

RPM issue

Was the sled engaging at low rpm?
If so the first thing i would check for is a broken primary spring.
However...
Local dealed had sled doing the same thing, wound up being injecters.
I'm not certian but i believe you can get a set for under $200.

I was thinking clutches. The motor was just rebuilt. New Fuel filter. cleaned the power valves also. I will try a primary spring and check out the buttons.
I am the guy who pulls the rope and rides until out of gas. I am pretty rough on equiptment. Thanks for the help

many things can be causing it..might also verify powervalves are working..both clutches are in good shape(good idea to install new springs in both each season, also a new belt if its original)..,check belt deflection as well...tps could also cause issues..many many things can be an issue.

rpm issue

We took my clutch apart today at the shop it looks like it is the problem.
Looks like I need buttons rollers and bushings. I am going to throw in new springs while i am in there. Thanks again for the help. Will try this out and let you guys know.

If this isn't the fix, ck your exhaust valves, to make sure they are opening. If they aren't you won't go past 7200 RPM

After describing your riding style I knew it would be your primary. If you remember to clean it with compressed air after every ride and toss a new primary spring in there every 500-700 miles you should be able to make a primary last a season between rebuilds.

I would venture to say your wear parts in the primary were starting to go as early as 600 miles considering how hard you ride. Have fun out there once you get her back together!

62's sound heavy. I started with 56's on my bone stock '12 riding 10,000-12,000 feet and thought I was over reving a bit. So I switched to 58's and on some days it's close. Now that we got a ridiculous dumping, the 56's will be going back in.

You probably need to look at the driven or large clutch. You could have a weak spring or even a broken spring. If the drive clutch looks good and the rollers and weight bushings are good and you don't have a broken front spring, then dive into the rear clutch and find the problem.
