Pro riders in movies

often wonder that myself. on a different note why is jay quinlin not in the movies no more?

Isn't Burandt producing slednecks now? if so, he's making some off that, but mostly, I'd bet the guys just get free lodging, gas, food, and some money from any sponsors they've got. Just my guess...

Did quinlan fall off the face of the earth? Haven't heard much of him for some time now...

Paid in sleds and accesories is my guess.

This. Most guys get some fat hookups with gear, sled accessories, and etc. Some guys get some indirect money like Brad Story who patented his propane turbo system and now (apparently) works for Boondocker selling and testing new products.

I know in other more lucrative industries you can get more. A friend of mine was a professional wakeboarder and his company gave him a truck and a new wake boat for free... and this was brand new stuff. $40,000 diesel Chevy and a $40,000 or more boat. He ended up rolling the pair of them on the highway outside of Las Vegas while on the way to a competition. The company brought him another truck/boat combo to Las Vegas and told him to get on the road.

If I was pro I'd just want to get my fuel paid for.

just as regular athletes they make some some cash from endorsements from sponsors. especially big energy drinks who have lots of money.

as for quinlan, As i was told the reason he went seperate ways from slednecks is because he wanted $ and more than just the free gear and trips he was probably getting for his riding for them and they said no so he went and started rath films with dana torgerson. so thats where he is at, i think he lives in colorado now. Burandt does not produce slednecks. slednecks movies are filmed edited and produced by chris brown and jason moriarty and clayton stassart.

I consider myslef a professional rider (well i did guide for a year so my profession was snowmobiling) the pay was crap, but I have never recieved any money for the films I've been in. Oh maybe that's because I just make the films for my friends and family instead of the masses. Anyone want to purchase any of my films??? :)

I've known a few "pro" wakeboarders, snowboarders and snowmobilers. Not sure how much they get paid but they sure had nice APARTMENTS and LOTS of cool roomates. ;)

A guy told me he rode with some guys from Braaap and they paid for a minute of footage that makes the movie like $500 to 800 (can't remember the exact number) I don't know if thats the minimum you would get or if they would break it down in to seconds of film cause a minute of just one guy is a lot of tricks.

If I got paid for my appearances I'd feel like a Snowhore. TeamSummit guys rock. We're all friends and do it for the love of the sport. Plus we can get Sarge to do some stupid sh!t if we tell him Oberti is up next!!

i think most of the dudes have regular jobs like you and I
i think Bochers lanscapes in the summer and is a rigger in the winter
i know a dude who bought one of his sleds and this is what he said

but who knows

would make sense though if these dudes dont get paid to ride..
i always wondered if they get "free" sleds or if they have to buy AND mod them????

Ha Ha ...now that is funny chit...you get to claim you got the biggest wagon, and that's it :beer; (to get your nuts to the hill that is) :D, the coolest thing is like snoboner said... We're all friends and do it for the love of the sport. I have met and rode with some of the coolest bro's out there, I gotta say between the Team Summit crew and Boondockers crew some of the most down to earth dudes...and I must say whatever outlay there is it still gets to be a money gig the more you want it, the more it costs and the less the money helps! You are ALWAYS diggin in somehow. Hands down tho it is the only thing that comes close to the trust you form in the military...the only sport I know of you can die when you ride with untrained ding dongs! Plus getting Dan Gardiner to shovel with you is a bonus (thanks again Dan ) I think I would (almost) pay to keep a group together vs concerning myself about the money...do it for the passion and the benefits will come!

What about the snowmachine "models" haha that you see riding the sled in the brand advertisments in magazines I wonder what they get paid.

All of the guys are profesionals.
Hairy Mark is a profesional high voltage line electrician
Shawn Hastings is a profesional machinist
Shawn Nesbo is a doctor
Burandt is a sales rep for Cat
Swenson is a sales rep for Yami.......and so on.
I think that most of the guys are like me, I wouldn't car if the camera was on or not, I would still ride for the friends and the experience of being outdoors. It would be cool to be able to go back and watch some of the stuf after you were done though. I'm sure some of the guys get perks and sponsors, don't get me wrong. Like Brad Story was given his 40th anniversary Nytro by a shop in Oregon to build his propane kit. All he had to do was build the kit, tell people who gave him the sled and how cool they are and at the end of the year, he gave them back the sled for them to sell and make the money on. In reality, only about 5% of the riding these guys do gets caught on film, other than that, they're just like you and me out looking for the perfect day. IMO

All I can say is RIDE THE WAVE MAN cause eventually it breaks and the ride is over. Thats all I do is grab what I can when I can, and if I am lucky enough to have a camera on... then what a trip to bve able to watch it over and over when you recite your lifes "ticket punches", I can tell you this.... I am not going to be 80 and saying *geez I wished I would have* I get to watch and say *geez watch what I did have* there are some perks to having someones name plastered on your ride, but there are very few who have the privilege of being self sufficient from their riding and good on em for having the opportunity ( and for all you guys that have too many "goggles" or "gloves" or "jackets" I'll take those sloppy seconds and put your name on my sled :D )
