pro did this 2 weeks in a row but only at a 1\4 tank of gas.

My pro has done this same problem 2 weeks in a row. i do believe it is recreatable but it is a scary one to recreate.
My pro only has 400 miles, i just got it end of febuary. But 2 weeks in row the same issue.

1\4 tank of gas on a very, very steep hill. When climbing a steep hill with a 1\4 tank of gas and you get the sled standing up on end. Whether the hill is just that steep or if you are trying to pull it over to straight up from a slight side hill hanging it out the det sensor kicks in. and the sled burbles. the first time it did this i was on a face and just saved it from wrecking. the second time it did it i was able to look at my gauge real quick and it had det on it.

the sled hasn't had this problem any other time. Like i said it is scary to recreate. i do believe the pickup line is not getting enough gas. I know an easy way to fix it is just add fuel. But i really haven't wanted to pack gas if i don't need it. anyone else running into this. i really hate calling it a day with a 1\4 tank of gas left.

the sled doesn't bog, just det kicks in at these very specific times.

thanks
tim

seen the cats do the same thing, they are sucking air when the fuel tank is low. the fuel pickup smart valves dry out and let the pump suck air. gotta be carefull with a low tank and a long steep climb. a surge tank would pretty much cure this problem. it gets worse under boost, as you need more fuel and pressure!

So the dash says. " DETO " ? No one seems to be able to answer that question.

Thanks

please clarify how you knew it was sensing deto......did it say so on the dash??

Dumb question but did you notice what your rpms are when this happened? Some have had det sensor go off when its really they are hitting the rev limiter. This is probably not it, just a thought though. There is another post, can't find it right now, but someone was having similar problems and it was after they rolled the sled. I remember something about the pickup line shifting in the tank. Maybe you could pull the fuel pump and inspect the fuel lines.

Yes.. the Dash Blinks "DET"

This means the computer senses there is a problem! Deto!!

I did not see the rpms before the det sensor kicked in. But i was pulling all kinds of steep lines before. I do truly believe it is a gas pick up issue.

I saw a dragon do exactly what you were describing, and it turned out one of the check valve/pickups was faulty, might take it to the dealer and have them look at it...

I'd say your not running enough weight in the primary. You are unloading the track when the sled stands up. The sudden rpm increase trigger the det sensor for some reason. Mine did this as well, and adding more clutch weight cured the problem.
Is your's saying det7? Do you have to shut the machine off and restart for it to reset?

Ak is right that if check valve is faulty... when it stands up and check valve closes, it's like putting your finger over the top of the straw and no fuel flows. Like you have run out of gas.

BUT, I would think that it would do it at all tank levels. Sounds like fuel is running to the back of the tank and the line is sucking air.

Not sure how you can tell you are at 1/4 of a tank... my gauge bounces all over the place when I am that low.....

Mine has done the same thing once or twice TIM....also when at lower fuel levels on steep slopes. I assumed it was the pickup coming out of the fuel as this is the only time it happened. It's hard to figure when you are low on fuel with this Pro as the guage is all over the map even with small differences in how level (or not) the sled is sitting.

I would be looking in the tank and see if the hose has come off of the pump, most logical reason. it is probably sucking air and going lean which in turn det.

Just a thought, could you pull the tank, empty it, look in for anything noticable. If nothing stands out put in 2-3 gallons and wire up the pump to a remote battery. Go to Napa and/or House of Hose and plumb in a gauge and a piece of hose connecting the supply line to the tank return with a gauge inline. Then fire up the pump, check for proper fuel pressure/flow then start elevating the tank and watch the gauge. You should hear the issue and see it in the gauge if it is pulling air.

Here's the connectors you would need from Napa, they may have a gauge too. I think 60 psi max should do it. You'll need the 3/8" and the 5/16" with a piece of hose and clamps to connect the supply to return. EW

Was visiting with Justin from Fastrax last night and he said they have noticed that the DET sensor can be a tad touchy... and they might have a very simple fix for it, give them a call. 253.848.0908

pick up line in the gas tank moved and was not getting fuel. so that is what was causing the det to go off.

This pro has been inthe shop every other weekend. the m8 is way more reliable but doesn't perform as good.

been in the shop every other weekend? you stated earlier that the sled rips and this is your only issue with it that wasn't even 10 days ago
