Hey guys so i purchased a 12 assault this fall, it seemed to work fine for most of its life and since i installed the ggb exhaust i get a bog everynow and then, It always happens at the worst times and really PI$$es me off. I never noticed a bog before. I have 520 miles on it already. Does anyone know what causes this? Backpressure? Thanks clayton:face-icon-small-fro

I have a 13 pro and put a ggb can on too. Mine has bogged only a few times but it has almost thrown me over the bars a couple times. Mine only seems to do it it when im on the throttle hard and let all the way off then pin it again, however the bog is only for like a 1/4 of a second its not much at all, i aint too worried about it.

because of that bog tday i got stuck alot, its a bitch when your in the trees, anyone wanna buy a ggb can?

8500 I believe, if your on and off the throttle quick under a no load situation it will hit the limiter easily.

Is your exhaust deflector bent? Blocking the exhaust?

Nope, it was peaking at 8050rpm all day and redline is 8450rpm. it always did a spontanious bog from day 1 with the can, but if its a little warmer like -10c + it does it all the time. I may sell the can and run stock, it seemed like it worked better before.

personally i think its overfueling when warm and loads up when you go to pucnh it everynow and then.

Could be your throttle cable. Mine started bogging on a ride, did it about 8 times in 20 miles. Took the slack out of the throttle cable and all it good.

x2 check your throttle lever free play and adjust your cable with the adjuster inside the rubber boot about six inches down from the throttle lever tighten it till there is just barely and free play almost none almost bet this will cure it

Thanks guys! i was hopeing it wasnt the can, i like the sound... ill tinker with it within the week, also gotta replace my smashed frt bumper

Mine is stock with the stock can I get it every now and again usually in the mid range. It only happends lets say 1 day out of a 3 day weekend and maybe for 10 minutes out of the day. Wierd.

I have had TPS reset and cleaned.
New plug caps
New injectors

It really hasn't changed. I am convinced it is TPS related. It is going back in to today. They may just replace the TPS or ECU. I don't know. They are going to make sure they can set the TPS and repeat the reading. Also make sure there are no dead spots in the TPS.

ive got at 12 as does a buddy we've owned them since new, and both ran like a raped ape last yr now this year hes got 1500 and ive got 1000 and we are both having mid range bogs as you grab full throttle! makes for lots of handle bar eating and getting stuck. he put a mbrp can on and i put a skinz, and thats when we noticed it, we went back to stock mine got slightly better but not much his is unchanged. He rand it for a while with his hood unplugged and it ran fine plug it back in and bogs again. we are both at a loss will try the throttle cable adjustment. but could please use some advice.

Dealer just called. They got it in Yesterday afternoon. Tested the TPS and found it every so slightly out of spec. Reset and we will try it again this weekend.

I've had 2 types of bogs on my '12. One being the exhaust can exit not being completely sealed. Some RTV black silicone took care of that. The other being the throttle cable being ever so slightly loose. I run with pretty much no throttle slack now and haven't had an issue since.

THIS!

And one last thing - if your injectors are dirty they can bog. I had the dreaded midrange bog last year and solved it with some toluene in the tank.

Aftermarket cans tho can most definitely cause fuel issues. The '11 and '12 Pros are mapped richer than '13's and the GGB can, being new, may be engineered for the '13 which may cause problems for the older ones. Just a thought. New players in the can market typically go thru painful learning curves which is why I avoid them.

Have FUN!

That is more than likely why SLP has different part number for the 13 than what the 12 uses. They have a lot of different part numbers just for the 800.

Does it usually happen at lower elevation and colder temperatures? runs better once you get up to your higher riding spots?
