Primer?

After having to hand prime my 800 while on a 5 day trip this past week, I am looking for another option. Sled starts fine until -20c or so. Was -35c two mornings and it would not start without pouring gas directly into the cylinders. Has anyone installed a hand primer on these rack carbs. I searched with no avail!

We didn't ever have a carbed engine with a primer. When we had trouble starting them when it got cold, we would shut them off at the end of the day by flipping the choke. Washed some oil off the cyclinder sand put some gas in for easier starting. Read about on some other forum. It was from some guys in Michigan where it was real cold in the morning and they were pulling on an 800 that didn't have decompression holes.

Thanks, been using that trick but -35C even that doesn't help much. I have read of a few guys running a doo primer in the rack carbs, using the vacuum balance ports that are plugged. I will investigate further. I am 6'2" 260 lbs and this thing is all I can pull at those temps!
