PRIMARY CLUTCH ON PRO

Same thing here, shaft broke! Looked like bad mat'l to me... This is after I put $150.00 for the Carl's mod, $$ lost! Rest of the sled is solid so far.
 
happened to me as well on 2nd ride. after the new clutch over 300 miles and hasn't missed a beat
 
what exactly broke in the clutch, was it the spider??? does anyone know if these are rebuildable or not. just about at 500 miles and will be pulling them apart to clean and inspect.
 
i can find any pics right now either but have heard of 3 do it now. they are breaking right down the middle, leaving the back sheave on the crank stub. end up having to weld the clutch halves back together and using a puller to get them off. have had it happen on a couple of my p-85 clutches over the past 8 years
 
Take a close look at the 3rd image at the very top of the broken shaft, there is a dark line through the material. This looks to be inconsistant material!
 
thats excactly what mine did!! we figured it was a bad casting from the clutch maker
 
Sorry for your troubles, I have two take off P-85's less weights and spring.

One has about 500 miles on it, came off the wifes '09 Assault for the electric start conversion.

And the other is about 70 miles and came off her PRO RMK for the same reason.'Make offer if this is something anyone needs.

they aren't going to have a clutch for logger155 till Saturday so he will have to ride a etec on Friday lucky guy
 
Just gathering info here: Were all of the broken clutches put on stock from the factory or were they taken off and re-installed? Wondering if that has anything to do with these breaking off where they are??
 
Wow that wouldn't be fun day. Where were you riding at GW?

Was up at Adams, pretty good day to! Had to ride double with my boy out and the wife's uncle towed the Pro with his M8.. I made sure no pictures were taken!!:face-icon-small-coo
