Preventive piston swap?

I have a 2011 RMK, with 1200 miles or so. Last year before I got out the Cooke it would not run right. I took it in under warranty and they found a bad piston and head.

Later this year the warranty will run out, right before my annual trip to Cooke. Should I save the head and just put in a RK Tek drop in kit now or wait till it burns down again?

I am thinking I could save my self a lot of headache buy just doing now and on my time, rather then when I am trying to play. What do you guys think?

I guess if I was in your shoes, I would just bite the bullet and upgrade the pistons. I really haven't heard of guys regretting it and it's piece of mind, especially when your X miles in the back country!!! Hell it's only $$$, must make more!!

I've got 1300 on my 12 and just installed a drop in kit.

The lady has 1300 on her 11 and she's getting rk tek pistons ( ;

Pulled my motor apart and it looked damn near new so I rebuilt a newish motor but when these skirts go, they go

I only have 100-150 miles since they rebuilt it last year. So the motor should be nice an fresh for a drop in kit.

For those of you that are replacing just the pistons, are there any preventative measures you are taking with the cylinder skirts? Doing a MPI on them or anything else? I think cylinder skirts dropping are fairly common just as piston skirts? Knowing the pistons have a "slap" in the cylinders, after the previously mentioned mileages, one would think the cylinder skirts are stressed, weakened or maybe even have cracks that aren't visible to the naked eye.

Just curious is all.

Having Fastrax fitting up a '13 cyl to my '12 case. Along with. Survey of the motor and fresh pistons.
